Besides the beautiful beach weather, June is the perfect month to explore Abu Dhabi’s top indoor attractions.

• The Louvre Abu Dhabi is vastly indoors (and even a little chilly inside!), so it makes a great June activity. Whilst in the Saadiyat Cultural District, you may also be interested in touring Abrahamic House (free), or experiencing TeamLab Phenomena (you can now combine your entry ticket for Louvre and TeamLab)

• Tour inside the city’s incredible Qasr al Watan, the Presidential Palace, before making your way to afternoon tea at either Emirates Palace or Observation 300 at Conrad Hotel, Etihad Towers.

• Enjoy indoor thrills and spills aplenty on Yas Island. Thrill-seekers will love taking on the world’s fastest roller coaster in the world at Ferrari World or try your hand at indoor SkyDiving next door at CLYMB Abu Dhabi.

• New to the theme park scene on Yas Island, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi – housing the world’s largest aquarium and an epic Antarctica realm kept at a chilly 1°C (34°F), makes for a unique addition to Abu Dhabi’s indoor lineup.

• The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is open throughout the year and can still be visited in summer, but be prepared as a lot of your tour is outside, only partially shaded.

• Enjoy an indulgent spa treatment at one of Abu Dhabi’s unique luxurious spas.

• In the evening, visit Yas Bay. Indoor dining is available, but if it’s not too sticky and humid, restaurants are keeping their al fresco dining areas open after dark.

Day Trips From Abu Dhabi in June 2026

This is a great time of year for exploring some of Dubai’s indoor attractions on a day trip from the capital.

If you only have one day, you may not have time to queue for the Burj Khalifa, but the Dubai Frame makes an excellent alternative Dubai viewing spot. We’d also suggest, on a Dubai itinerary this summer, enjoying the best of indoor attractions:

• Enjoy a tropical treat indoors at The Green Planet.
• Tour the tunnels beneath the world’s largest suspended water tank at Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo.
• Visit the beautiful Museum of the Future (advance booking tickets for this attraction is still a must).

Abu Dhabi With Kids in June 2026

This is the perfect time of year to take on the Yas Island theme parks.

You can start your day at Yas Waterworld, then continue to cool off indoors at neighbouring Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi. Finish your evening over at Ferrari World and Yas Mall, where there are plenty of family dining options.

While it’s not impossible to be outside in June, bear in mind that surfaces can be scorching, even into the evening. Take care before venturing near playground equipment, and keep beach shoes on your little one’s feet, sunscreen, and hats.

• A great fun option you can try in the hotter summer months is Yas Waterworld summer nights, held every Saturday night over the summer (end of June to early September) until 10:00 PM.

• A nice place to cool off at the end of the day is the city’s famous Umm al Emarat Park. The park stays open until late in the evening (entry is 10 AED per person), and kids can cool off in the splash park and wadis.

• Another popular new evening spot for families is Al Mamsha on Al Hudayriat Island. Here, you’ll find a skate park, splash park, heritage trail, and a great range of al fresco dining options.

Our best recommendation when travelling with kids to Abu Dhabi in summer is to stay at one of the city’s best beachfront hotels so kids can enjoy a splash as part of your stay; top recommendations include:

• The St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort – or frankly, any of the Saadiyat Island resorts are simply superb.
• Emirates Palace is an indulgent luxury, but those slides and pool—wow!
• On a smaller budget, try Beach Rotana or off-island; any of the Yas hotels, such as the new Hilton Abu Dhabi on Yas Island with theme park tickets included, are a winner for summer vacays in Abu Dhabi – you can also check out the current ‘Kids Go Free‘ promotion for Yas Island, which runs from 1 June to 30 September.

As the temperatures start to rise, many venues will try to squeeze out the last of the cooler weather for al Fresco events before the real heat of summer hits. Expect most activities to move indoors over the month.

Cultural Events

• Eid Al-Adha is set to fall between May 26th & May 29th 2026, although these dates may change subject to the sighting of the moon. This important festival is sure to bring plenty of opportunities to celebrate across the emirate, with fireworks and special family events dotted throughout the city.
• May 16th sees the season finale of Furusiyya, a celebration of Emirati horsemanship on Jubail Island.

Live Music, Theatre and Comedy

• Classical musician Hauser will put on a stunning stage show to reignite the city on 2 May 2026 – Etihad Arena
• Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats will bring the stage back to life at Abu Dhabi Arena from 14 to 24 May 2026 – Postponed to 4-13 June 2027.
• Renowned arab singer Kadim Al Sahir will charm audiences with his timeless songs at the Space 42 Arena on Thursday, 28th May 2026.
• For an evening of nostalgic performances, join Georges Wassouf and Zia’s Bourji at the Space 42 Arena on May 30th.

Suggested Abu Dhabi Activities in May 2026

As the weather is really getting hot during May, it’s time to seek out indoor activities during the day, then finish your outdoor activities in the evenings when the temperature drops (a little!) Why not try:

• A morning spent exploring the Louvre Museum Abu Dhabi or any of the 3 spectacular museums in the Saadiyat Cultural District

• An afternoon spent at the Presidential Palace Qasr al Watan followed by sundowners from Observation 300 in Etihad Towers, or Rays Bar, part of Conrad Hotel Abu Dhabi

• An evening spent strolling the sidewalks of Al Qana, enjoying the varied international dining scene and pop-up stalls

• Alternatively, get an early start and go kayaking in the mangroves at Jubail Mangrove Park, Jubail Island, or explore the Eastern Mangrove by Kayak

• Adrenaline seekers will love the indoor theme park, Ferrari World, on Yas Island, a perfect escape from the heat with plenty of thrills and spills. Alternatively, try the new SeaWorld Abu Dhabi.

• Sun worshippers who’ve come for the hotter weather in the UAE will love a luxury beach club day (if you’re not already staying at one of the city’s incredible beach hotels)

An Abu Dhabi Desert Safari in May? Some operators will continue to operate evening tours into the desert well into the early summer. Whilst yes, it’s doable, it is still hot! With kids or elderly members of your group, we would recommend against it over the summer months. However, if you have a very high heat tolerance, go for it! It will be much quieter to take a desert safari in May than in the peak winter months.

Day Trips from Abu Dhabi in May 2026

Why not consider:

• Visiting the cultural highlights of Al Ain on a day trip – see Al Ain Palace Museum, the oases of Al Ain, and Qasr al Muwaiji.

• A day trip to neighbouring Dubai – catch the Museum of the Future, step back in time at the fully refurbished Al Shindagha District or head out on the water with a Dubai Marina tour.

In a city built to cope with the heat, there’s plenty of fun still to be had indoors and out in May – just bear in mind the midday heat, so time your activities carefully. Some May favourites in Abu Dhabi include:

The weather in May is perfect, as you’ll get a refreshing treat in the water, but not too hot for sitting poolside. Everything you need to know about visiting Abu Dhabi in April

April is a transition month, weather-wise, for Abu Dhabi. Mild, pleasant days at the start of the month, usually coinciding with local and European school holidays, turning into hot days approaching summery highs by the end of the month.

There is usually a lot going on around town in April as many outdoor events such as markets, al fresco breakfasts, brunches, and bars squeeze out the last of outdoor weather before life moves indoors, usually around the start of May.

However, in 2026, things are bound to feel a lot different.

The important message to reiterate, whether you are local or stopping through this month, is that the city (and indeed the whole country) is still very much open for business., albeit events are still being postponed and cancelled.

Follow any safety alerts issued by the UAE authorities and be aware last minute cancellations may need to be made. Follow MOIUAE as a reliable government source of information.

Abu Dhabi Weather in April

Abu Dhabi’s average daytime maximum temperature in April is 31.4°C (88.5°F), with highs up to 43°C (109.4°F) and average overnight lows of 24.6°C (76.3°F). Rainy weather this year has led to much lower-than-usual temperatures in early April 2026.

In April, you should expect an average sea temperature of 25.2°C (77.4°F). The month starts with minimum sea temperatures of around 22.7°C (74.9°F), rising to a very pleasant 27.7°C (79.9°F) by the month’s end.

Cultural Events in Abu Dhabi in April

• Easter in Abu Dhabi, although not formally marked as a holiday in the UAE, is widely celebrated in the retail and hospitality industry (Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026 for Catholics and Sunday, April 12, 2026, for Orthodox) – church services and events across the city

Festivals and Exhibitions

• DAZ Festival outdoor adventure will continue to take place from 3-12 April 2026 at Al Jahili Park in Al Ain
• Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba has extended its season until Sunday, 5 April 2026, offering free entry to all.

Sports and Entertainment

• Yas Waterworld will open its new extension to the public on 4 April 2026 – enjoy the UAE’s tallest water slide, free-fall tube races, and a new pool lounge.
• Catch the last two race meets of the season at Abu Dhabi Turf Club with Vitamin C Day on 4 April and Velora Season Finale on 11 April 2026
• The Laughter Factory will be in town on 12 April 2026 to bring some much-needed laughs at The Club
• YMC Official, Yas Marina Circuit is hosting the ‘One Flag, One Walk, One Community‘ event on Wednesday, 15 April 2026 – free entry (see also their complete schedule of open events at the track for April)
• Abu Dhabi 360, in conjunction with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, is hosting a special event, ‘Run for the Nation‘, open to families and all fitness levels, on 18 April 2026: a 5km fun run starting at Wahat Al Karama – free entry
• The Abu Dhabi Youth Orchestra and Choir will be putting on their first jazz concert of the year Sunday, 29 April, at the Cultural Foundation
• ‘The Voice of Egypt’ Angham Live comes to the stage for a special event on Saturday, 25 April 2026 – Space 42 Arena
• Rashed Al Majid takes the stage at Etihad Arena on 30 April 2026, bringing us his classic Arabic tunes.

Cancelled & Postponed Events from April 2026

Most events involving large crowd gatherings have been cancelled due to the ongoing regional conflict. Please note the new dates for the following events:

• Middle East Film and Comic Con has moved to 11-13 September 2026 at ADNEC
• Abu Dhabi International Book Fair postponed to 13 -18 September 2026 ADNEC
• Christina Aguilera has had her concert at Etihad Arena postponed to 25 September 2026
• Off Limits Festival at Etihad Park has been postponed to 21 November 2026
• Tarkan Live at Etihad Arena has been postponed to 27 November 2026
• BRED Abu Dhabi Neoculture Festival on Yas Island postponed with new date TBC
• Hyperbound Kpop Fest on 18 April 2026 has been cancelled. Await news if there will be a reschedule.

Day Trips from Abu Dhabi in April 2026

• April is a great time to squeeze in a bit of camping before the outdoor season ends. If you don’t have access to your own tent, why not head to Sir Bani Yas Island to enjoy this stunning nature reserve (an overnight stay at one of the beachfront villas is highly recommended!) or try one of these purpose-built glamping sites in Abu Dhabi.

• Try the refreshing Al Ain Oasis on a day trip to the Garden City, Al Ain.

• It’s still pleasant enough in the evenings to enjoy a desert safari, admire the sparkling dunes at sunset, followed by a traditional Bedouin experience under the stars.

The kids will no doubt be happy sitting poolside in April, so staying at one of the lovely city resort hotels with a kids’ club will be an absolute winner at this time of year. We love the family-friendly facilities at:

Enjoy the attractions on Hudayriyat Island, including the Circuit X high ropes park, BMX track, skate park, and splash park, all of which are open into the evening to beat the midday heat. Soak up the nighttime atmosphere of the Marsana area, packed full of restaurants, cafes, and food trucks right by the beach.

Abu Dhabi Special Events in February 2026

February is the perfect time to get outdoors in Abu Dhabi. There’s often an action-packed lineup of outdoor concerts and festivals to make the most of the final month of milder weather.

However, this year, the holy month of Ramadan is set to begin from sundown on 17 February, which may affect the usual events calendar. Whilst there may be a downturn in concerts and sporting events, Ramadan will bring nights of festivity, as the Muslim population breaks their daily fasts with iftar meals around the city.

These range from simple one-dish affairs to elaborate 5* buffets. There will be Ramadan night markets and special cultural events galore, so don’t forget to check this page again before your visit for the most up-to-date information!

Cultural Events in Abu Dhabi this February

• The Al Hosn Festival 2026 will conclude on 1 February 2026 – Qasr al Hosn
• The Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival, which is held on purpose-built festival showgrounds in Al Wathba, is in full swing during February. The festival will, however, conclude slightly early this year, in line with the start of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
• The Al Ain Heritage Festival is running from 31 January through to 9 February 2026 at ADNEC Centre, Al Ain.
• Experience the Kayan Wellness Festival on 6 & 7 February 2026, which promises feel-good vibes and holistic living experiences – Fahid Island
• Animena Abu Dhabi festival returns from 11 to 15 February 2026 – Manarat Al Saadiyat
• Al Dhafra Water Festival is usually scheduled for February/March but we are yet to see confirmed dates for 2026 – Al Mughaira Beach, Al Dhafra (Western Region).
• The holy month of Ramadan is due to start on or around the 18th February (subject to the moon sighting). As the sun sets during Ramadan, the city comes alive with vibrant iftar (the traditional meal to break the daily fast) gatherings in a wide range of venues. Live Music & Theatre

• Peppa Pig will be having another ‘Fun Day Out’ at the Etihad Arena on 1 February 2026.
• Enjoy the Saadiyat Nights concert series, with legendary songstress Mariah Carey on 7 February, followed by Canadian superstar Bryan Adams on February 11. Making his Abu Dhabi debut John Mayer will take to the stage on 15 February with the season’s closing performance – Saadiyat Island.
• Enjoy music from the UAE National Orchestra, who will be performing their ‘Faces of Love’ concert at the Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation on 4 February.
• Ink – Huang Yi Studio + will truly mesmerize you with their unique blend of dance, technology, and calligraphy live at New York University Arts Center on 5 February.
• The UAE National Orchestra will also be offering a unique ‘Journey East’ in a performance that questions what could have unfolded if Vivaldi had encounter the music and instruments of the Arab world – New York University Theatre – 7 February. For a more traditional approach Russian Classics on 14 February will celebrate the music of Shostakovich, Stravinsky and Tchaikovsky – also at New York University Theatre.
• Furusiyya, offers a unique insight into arab horsemanship on 7, 14 & 28 February 2026.

Sporting events in Abu Dhabi this February

• Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open Tennis WTA 500 (Women’s Tournament) will take place from 31 Jan to 7 February 2026 – Abu Dhabi International Tennis Centre
• The UCI UAE Cycling Tour will include a women’s race from 5-8 February 2026, and the men’s race between February 16 and 22 – various locations.
• TriYas Triathlon event returns for its 16th Edition on 14 February 2026 – Yas Marina Circuit

Suggested Abu Dhabi Tourist Activities in February 2026

Given the weather, you undoubtedly want to experience the best of Abu Dhabi outdoors during February. Why not try:

• Qasr Al Hosn – found in the centre of Abu Dhabi island. Home to Abu Dhabi’s original landmark building the Al Hosn Fort, this is the perfect place to come and take a step back through history during the cool and pleasant winter months, with a variety of indoor and outdoor displays.

• Kayak the Mangroves – there are a couple of superb spots to do this, both close to town. Try the Mangroves National Park at Eastern Mangroves (adjacent to the Anantara Hotel)! Kayaking is now also available at Jubail Mangrove Park, Reem Island and around the Louvre, Saadiyat Island.

• A city boat tour – A fabulous way to see the city made up of hundreds of islands; there are several departure locations and types of boats, from thrilling speed boats to more sedate traditional dhows to get out on the water and enjoy the fresh winter air.

• Enjoy an evening in the desert – most tour operators are again taking visitors to the rich golden dunes just outside of the city for a unique and memorable desert experience. Expect dune bashing, quad biking and a camel ride before settling into evening entertainment, including BBQ dinner and a dance show over shisha and henna painting.

• Enjoy the spoils of Valentine’s Day which will be widely marked at hospirality venues across the capital on Friday 14 February, and no doubt alla cross the weekend with romantic dinners and more!

• And should you find that there’s a wet and windy day, perhaps visit Abu Dhabi’s ‘Prison Island’, a network of 26 challenging escape rooms tucked inside Abu Dhabi Mall.

Day Trips from Abu Dhabi in February 2026

February is a great time to explore all that the UAE has to offer. Whilst a day trip to Dubai is an obvious choice for many visitors, here are some of the UAE’s lesser-known day trips:

• A day exploring Jebel Hafeet Desert Park – Explore the 5000-year-old beehive tombs and many hiking trails at the foot of Jebel Hafeet, Al Ain. There are also overnight camping and glamping options to consider here.
• Visit Al Ain Oasis and the various forts and palaces in Abu Dhabi’s ‘Garden City’. See how dates have been cultivated for generations using the elaborate aflaj system and visit the Palace of Sheikh Zayed, the UAE’s founding father. Try this day tour, which will include your guide and transportation.

Abu Dhabi with Kids in February 2026

There’s still plenty of fun for the kids to have outside during February 2024. Why not try:

• The CircuitX experiences on Al Hudayriat Island. Ropes course, zipline, rock climbing, and free fall are all on offer at one location, or head over to the beach and Marsana for the Skate Park and Splash Pad as the afternoons in Abu Dhabi start to heat up for Spring.
• Yas Waterworld will remain open throughout the winter this year, so grab those bathers and get ready for action! (and yes, much of the park has heated water in Feb!)
• For a cheap family outing, you can’t go past Umm Al Emarat Park with an extensive winter program of entertainment.

Indoors, there are several great experiences to be enjoyed in Abu Dhabi, such as:

• SeaWorld Yas Island is a great addition to the theme park lineup and is worth a spot on your family itinerary in Abu Dhabi.
• The Galleria on Al Maryah Island is home to several indoor family experiences, ideal for those occasional rainy days, including Caboodle, Mission Play! By Mattel, National Geographic Ultimate Explorer, Xtreme Zone, Pop in and Play, Zero Latency (VR Games) and Game Over escape rooms.

Cultural & Sightseeing Places to Visit in Abu Dhabi for FREE

You may be excited to learn that nearly all of the best cultural places to visit in Abu Dhabi are FREE or really cheap!

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

The country’s most beautiful building is a mustn’t-miss attraction for residents and visitors alike and is completely FREE to enter; you can even join a guided cultural tour, completely FREE!

If you are not appropriately dressed, you may need to buy a cheap abaya or kandura from the small souk (these used to be borrowed for free, but this changed over COVID).

Open Sat – Thu 9:00 am – 10:00 pm, Fri 9:00 am – 12:00 pm & 3:00 pm to 10.00 pm.

Wahat al Karama

Immediately opposite the Grand Mosque, you will find the Wahat Al Karama War Memorial – “Oasis of Dignity”. There is a visitor centre to explore, the Pavilion of Honour, and the memorial itself, which features 31 aluminium-clad tablets representing Emirati lives lost in conflict.

You can also get beautiful photos of the Mosque from the reflective pond. Open daily 9:00 am to 8:00 pm. FREE.

Qasr al Watan

The stunning Presidential Palace is one of the city’s modern wonders and most beautiful landmark buildings.

Entry to the palace itself may blow the daily budget just a little (AED 65 per adult,) but a trip to the Palace in Motion evening sound and light show is just AED 25 per adult / AED 12 for juniors.

Palace in Motion times do vary so be sure to check show times and book in advance, last entry is 30 minutes before show time.

Opened in 2023, the Abrahamic Family House is an interfaith complex comprising a mosque, a church, and a synagogue located on Saadiyat Island. The aim of the complex is to welcome people from all walks of life to exchange knowledge and practice faith. Visitors of all faiths are invited to learn about the three Abrahamic faiths and their rituals.

Open to visitors Tuesday – Sunday 10:00 am – 5.00 pm.

The Abrahamic Family House is FREE to enter, but visitor tickets must be booked in advance and follow the dress code for religious buildings in Abu Dhabi.

Based on the breakwater near Abu Dhabi Marina Mall, take a step back in time to experience traditional desert life in the heart of the city. Learn about traditional crafts, Bedouin housing and falconry.

The Founders Memorial

Situated near Emirates Palace, before the breakwater, this exhibition is a visitor information centre as well as The Constellation, a giant artwork that lights up at night in the image of Sheikh Zayed.

The visitor centre is open 9:00 am – 10:00 pm daily, and FREE tours are possible.

Emirates Palace

No need to have an extravagant booking; at most times, visitors are free to come and admire the front steps and inside Emirates Palace. You can take your photos, but remain respectful; covered knees and shoulders are required for ladies and gents, no shorts.

Staying for gold flake coffee, afternoon tea, or a camel burger is, of course, recommended, but anything beyond admiration and a few photos to mark the occasion will likely break the AED 100 daily budget!

Al Maqta’a Museum

Freshly renovated and reopened in May 2025, this former Customs House was built in the 1950s to monitor entry to Abu Dhabi when the first causeway was constructed to Abu Dhabi island (Now dwarfed by the much larger Sheikh Zayed Bridge).

The building has been preserved for its socio-cultural importance as a shared effort between the Department of Culture and Tourism and the Abu Dhabi Police. The free exhibits here focus on policing throughout the decades.

A cultural destination in Abu Dhabi’s port area of Mina Zayed. Warehouses have been transformed for artistic expression, understanding, and further development of the UAE’s creative community.

A real hidden gem, the Salwa Zeidan Gallery, located at the Millennium Al Rawdah Hotel, champions local and regional artists. Exhibitions rotate regularly and include painting, photography, sculpture, and the performing arts.

Abu Dhabi’s stunning children’s library is well worth a visit. You can spend hours looking at books in the comfortable and quirky reading spaces around the 5,250-square-meter site, and it’s all completely FREE!

Located at the Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation in Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street in the Al Hosn area of Abu Dhabi.

Camel Racing

No trip to the UAE is complete without taking in a dose of camels, and what better way to do it than watching them race at the Al Wathba race track? Sure, there might be more 4WDs than camels… It’s all part of the fun.

Held weekends and public holidays during the cooler winter months around dawn. (Exact timetables and information are hard to come by). An amazing place to experience the heart and soul of Abu Dhabi, and one of the best things to do for FREE in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi Fish Market

Visiting a local market is an interesting addition to any trip, and the most interesting market in Abu Dhabi is undoubtedly the fish market. The new Fish Market, opened in 2022, has 104 fresh fish stalls and 44 cleaning stations.

Whilst it’s missing some of the charm of the old fish market, it has the same bustling atmosphere and is a great place to see the variety of fish and seafood caught locally.

Open daily from 7:00 am until 9:00 pm (10:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays).

The market is completely FREE to enter.

Enjoy a ladies’ night!

Not for families, but we thought we should mention the FREE and very cheap ladies’ nights around the city.

Often these involve a small cover charge, which entitles ladies to a small plate of food and unlimited alcoholic drinks for the evening; sometimes the requirement is that food must be purchased for ladies to drink for free.

Outdoor Family Fun in Abu Dhabi for FREE

There are so many great outdoor spaces and beautiful beaches in Abu Dhabi that can be enjoyed totally FREE (or with a very small entry fee).

The Corniche and Al Bahar

The Corniche Beach has been one of Abu Dhabi’s highlights for years, whilst A’l Bahar opened in 2018 as a new family entertainment district on the beachfront near to Nation Towers.

Much of the beachfront has been rejuvenated and is FREE to use during daylight hours. The family beach area charges AED 10 per adult for access to clean, relatively private facilities.

You could optionally spend money on some extras, including bike hire and activities within the Al Bahar complex, such as ropes courses and the inflatable obstacle course that may blow your daily budget.

Several play parks, splash areas, and skate parks all along the Corniche, though, are completely FREE.

Public beach areas have lifeguards on duty during daylight hours, and the Corniche footpath stays open 24/7 for recreational use.

Umm al Emmarat Park (formerly Mushrif Park)

You will find this beautiful family park in the centre of Abu Dhabi island. Its botanical gardens, play parks, wadi, petting zoo, and extensive lawns make it the perfect urban escape.

A cover charge of AED 10 per person applies. Additional activities, such as feeding the animals and using the train, cost extra.

You will also find the RIPE food & craft market on a Saturday afternoon (3:00 pm – 9:00 pm) during the cooler winter months.

Reem Central Park

Reem Central Park on Al Reem Island is another new public park, featuring food trucks, play grounds and recreation spaces for all ages to enjoy, all free.

Yas Gateway Parks

For one week of the year, they are car parking for the Grand Prix – the other 51 weeks, two superb free parks for families to enjoy!

Grab bikes or scooters, or enjoy the play parks and barbeques in Gateway Park North and Gateway Park South. FREE.

Sheikha Fatima Park

Spanning 46,000 square meters of reimagined urban space, the beautiful oasis that is Sheikha Fatima Park is a stunning feature. Set back a block from Abu Dhabi Corniche, Sheikha Fatima Park is split into three zones.

Zone 1 contains winding pathways through landscaped gardens. Zone 2 features a skate park, splash park, a beautiful outdoor playground, and an indoor play area, as well as Abu Dhabi’s only pet park.

Zone 3 comprises a large grassed area suitable for sports, concerts, and outdoor cinema, as well as numerous cafes and restaurants. There are various murals around the park that also shouldn’t be missed!

The park is open daily, 6:00 am -10:00 pm – Seasonal variations may apply.

Entry to the park is FREE. Some activities attract a small charge.

Al Bateen Beach

On the west side of Abu Dhabi Island, the low-key Al Bateen Beach is a family winner. Safe patrolled swimming with an adjacent play park, lawn, and a women-only section (Paid, 25AED adults, 5AED kids).

Open 10:00 am to 10:00 pm; swimming allowed until sunset.

Al Hudayriat Island

Located to the west of Abu Dhabi island (continue along 19th, beyond Al Bateen Beach), Al Hudayriat Island is a sports and recreation paradise!

Some sections of the beach attract a charge, but there is still a beautiful stretch of sand that’s free to use (a fee for sun loungers and umbrellas applies). You’ll find everything you need here, including changing rooms and public toilets.

Put together your own basketball or beach volleyball games, play on the pristine white sandy beach, or let the kids run off some steam at the playground.

There are numerous food trucks as well as a handful of permanent restaurants.

The bike tracks around the island can be used for FREE, but you will have to pay extra if you choose to participate in other sporting activities like those run by Circuit X for kids, and to hire sports pitches and courts.

You’ll also find the Hudayriyat Heritage Trail, which explores the island’s past, for free.

Saadiyat Beach

The most stunning stretch of white sand beach in the Middle East, facing the Arabian Gulf, is home to a string of luxury beach resorts and beach clubs.

Whilst you’ll need to play for any of the club and resort facilities, Saadiyat Beach itself is public property and is technically free to walk along and splash in the water.

Eastern Mangroves National Park

Enjoy a view of the mangroves from the Eastern Mangroves hotel complex. For an extra cost, you can hire kayaks or eco donut boats to enjoy the mangroves close up, or take a stroll along the 4.5 km-long Al Gurm Corniche, stretching to 19th Street.

NB – this area is currently undergoing major rejuvenation works as at early 2026 so many of the recreation services available here have relocated.

Jubail Mangrove Park

Head to Jubail Mangrove Park, just off the Saadiyat highway, for a longer walk through the mangroves. Explore the mangroves from elevated boardwalks.

Entry to the boardwalk costs 20 AED for adults and children over the age of 11, while children under 11 pay 10 AED. This makes the activity fairly affordable for a family of four.

You can opt to pay more to enjoy your experience with a park ranger as a guide, or perhaps you might like to book one of the many kayaking experiences that take place on the site.

Al Wathba Wetland Reserve

Based just outside of the city, heading towards Al Ain on the Truck Road, you’ll find this protected wetlands area, home to over 250 species of birds, including Flamingos.

Limited operating hours, Thu & Sat 8:00 am – 4:00 pm from September to April only (Temporarily closed- January 2026). FREE.

FREE Sports & Recreation Activities in Abu Dhabi

If there’s one thing the city really excels at, its providing opportunities to access recreation activities for free, helping the community stay fit and active.

Yas Marina Circuit

Whilst attending the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will set you back a packet, you can exercise almost year-round on the Yas Marina Circuit track for FREE.

The 5.5km Yas track is open to the public 3 nights a week for TrainYas (running, walking, and cycling), plus several mornings for cycling only (TrainAM 6:00 am to 8:00 am).

Pre-registration is required, but entry is free. Those without a bike can hire one of the limited number of FREE bikes, or more experienced riders can hire a professional track bike from on-site vendors.

Every Monday, Tuesday (ladies only), and Wednesday from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm.

Al Wathba Cycle Track

Those who like to get some distance in their ride should head just beyond Mussafah to Al Wathba, near Endurance Village. The Al Wathba Cycle Track is open 24/7 (floodlit at night) and has 8km, 16km, 20km, 22km, and 30km options, completely FREE.

Khalifa International Bowling Centre

You can never go past bowling for some indoor family fun! Prices at this ZSC venue start from just AED 25 a game (plus look out for 2-4-1 vouchers). Don’t miss the awesome Chinese restaurant upstairs!

FREE Places to visit in Al Ain

There are many fun and free (and very affordable) things to do in the cultural capital, Al Ain, which is 1.5 hours from Abu Dhabi, making it a great day trip destination.

• Jebel Hafeet – a great experience to road trip to the tallest peak in Abu Dhabi emirate for spectacular views over Al Ain and the border to Oman. FREE.

• Green Mubazzarah – picnic or dip your feet in the natural hot springs at the foot of Jebel Hafeet. FREE (The little train is an extra AED 20 per adult/10 AED per child, and camping in one of the chalets comes with an overnight fee).

• Experience the UNESCO World Heritage Sites – which include the Al Ain Oasis (FREE) Hili Archaeological Park and the Hafeet Tombs in Jebel Hafit Desert Park (some experiences paid).

• Al Ain Palace Museum – the birthhome of the country’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed, is a beautifully restored example of traditional Bedouin architecture. Open 9:00 am to 7:00 pm (Temporarily Closed). FREE.

• Qasr al Muwaiji – the birthplace of Sheikh Khalifa, historic fort and exhibit. Open 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. FREE

• Al Ain Classic Car Museum – cover charge of AED 15 adults, AED 5 for Children 5 – 15 years

• Al Jahili Fort – historic building and photography exhibit, also stroll the beautiful Al Jahili Park next door. FREE

• Al Ain Zoo – arguably one of the Emirate’s top tourist attractions, including the Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre. Adults AED 30, kids AED 10.

• Souq Al Qattara – shop at the handicrafts market on Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays during winter. FREE (but bring your spending money for some unique souvenirs!)

• Camel Souk – you don’t get a more real and interactive experience than the heart of a camel market in Al Ain! FREE.

Abu Dhabi Emirate – FREE Places to Visit Beyond the City

If you’ve got your own set of wheels and you’re confident driving in Abu Dhabi, there’s a huge, big sandpit out there to explore! Once you’ve accounted for the cost of fuel, why not try:

• Dune Bashing in the Empty Quarter (or almost any patch of the desert!
• Explore the forts of the Liwa Desert. The Liwa Oasis is the ancestral home of the Bani Yas tribe and contains many forts and watchtowers that are FREE to visit. The best place to start your discovery of Liwa’s forts is at the Al Dhafra Fort museum (open daily 10.00am until 6.00pm), before moving on to the Mezairaa Fort and Khanoor Fort (note that these forts are only open to the public at certain times of the year, for example during the Liwa Festival), but they’re still worth a drive-by on your way into the desert for camping (or a stray at a desert resort). Another land mark that has no admission fee is the Tal Moreeb – one of the world’s biggest sand dunes standing at a massive 300 metres.

• Explore the Fossil Dunes (8:00 AM to 8:00 PM) and the unique salt lake near Al Wathba – FREE
• Visit the Emirates National Auto Museum (adults AED 50, kids free)
• Explore Dalma Island and Al-Meraikhi Old House – a historic pearl diving home (Ferry charges apply, but entry to the island and the museum is FREE).
• Stroll the Mamsha al Mugheirah boardwalk- the Western Region’s answer to the stunning mangroves; here, you’ll find a beautiful and educational boardwalk experience, food trucks, and much more in this rejuvenated beachfront location.

And at night time…

• Another place that’s free to visit and has gained a lot of popularity in recent years is the Al Quaa Milky Way viewing spot out in the desert. Unless you’re an experienced 4WD driver who knows the terrain well, this trip is best left to experienced professionals. We recommend Arabian Wanderers for this, as they offer both an adults-only and a family tour to Al Quaa with pick-ups that can be arranged from both Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
• Go camping at the beach or in the desert (sand driving experience and equipment necessary)

FREE Transport in Abu Dhabi

Some more money-saving tips in Abu Dhabi you may not be aware of:

• Getting around Yas Island is made easy with FREE Yas Express minibuses. These operate between the hotels and key theme park and tourist attractions on Yas Island, as well as services that run from Saadiyat Island to Yas and from Dubai to Yas Island daily.

• If your timings are flexible, take advantage of the Vist Abu Dhabi courtesy bus system to get between major city attractions and hotels.

• Are you transiting between Dubai or Abu Dhabi for a flight? You may be able to use the Free airline buses operated by Emirates and Etihad to get across the UAE

Staying in Abu Dhabi for FREE

Now, what could be better for saving money on your city stay than getting your accommodation for free?

Etihad is offering transit passengers through AUH an appealing option to stay in one of their designated hotels free of charge for 1 and 2-night stopovers.

There are a few catches to being able to utilise the free night(s) – namely, your flight must be with Etihad (or Etihad-operated codeshare), and you must stay at least 24 hours. Your transfers and meals are NOT included – but as we’ve shown you above, there are so many ways you can see Abu Dhabi on a budget.

Abu Dhabi Weather in November

The average maximum daytime temperature in November is 29.5°C (85°F), although some days can still reach 37.4°C (99.3°F). Nights are balmy, with average lows of 24.2°C (75.6°F). Most days are sunny, although there may be some misty starts.

November is arguably the best time to visit the beach in Abu Dhabi. Cooler temperatures make sunbathing and playing in the sand much more comfortable, and average sea temperatures of around 28.5°C (83.3°F) make for a refreshing swim!

Getting around Abu Dhabi is set to become easier for visitors, with plans unveiled for a brand-new tram network. The Abu Dhabi Light Rail Project (LRT) will begin on Yas Island, home to some of the city’s most popular attractions, and eventually connect directly to Zayed International Airport.

A New Way to Explore Yas Island

The first phase of the tram project will start at Yas Gateway Park, looping around key destinations including:

• Ferrari World
• Yas Marina Circuit (home of the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix)
• Yas Bay Waterfront

From there, the line will extend across to the mainland, with stops planned at Etihad Plaza, Al Raha Mall, and onwards to the airport. For future visitors, this means a convenient new way to move between Yas Island’s theme parks, shopping, and hotels without relying only on taxis or buses.

Linking the Airport to the City

Currently, Zayed International Airport is primarily accessible to Abu Dhabi by taxi and limited bus services. The tram will provide a much-needed alternative, helping travellers link smoothly from their flights to Yas Island and the wider city.

Officials at Abu Dhabi Airports have highlighted the importance of this project, stating that they aim to make it easier for passengers to reach the capital’s main attractions as well as travel onwards across the Emirates.

Innovation on the Horizon: Urbanloop

Alongside the tram, Abu Dhabi is also exploring Urbanloop, a new French-designed autonomous pod system that debuted at the Paris Olympics. Trials are scheduled to begin on Reem Island within the next six months.

These pod-like vehicles are designed for short, flexible journeys and could one day serve business class or VIP passengers at the airport.

Each vehicle can carry between 2 and 12 people, offering direct, non-stop service to destinations at speeds of up to 1,500 passengers per hour. Designed with the UAE climate in mind, they feature advanced air-conditioning and dust protection.

Note, these projects are in addition to the ART (Automated Rapid Transport) Trackless Trams currently serving Reem Mall to Marina Mall on weekends.

What This Means for Abu Dhabi Travellers

Depending on what time of the month you are looking at, October can be a great time to visit Abu Dhabi. The peak summer temperatures noticeably drop off by mid-month, and by the end of October, there are signs that the cooler days of winter might be on their way.

It is a great time of year for beach weather if you like your heat, although we’d still recommend you stay indoors between midday and about 4:00 pm and make the most of early mornings and cooler evenings.

Abu Dhabi’s average daytime maximum temperature in October is 33.9°C (93°F), with highs as much as 41.6°C (106.9°F) and average lows overnight down to 28°C (82.4°F).

In October, you should expect average sea temperatures of 31.6°C (88.9°F). Maximum sea temperatures are expected to be at 33°C (90.3°F) through to a minimum of 30.2°C (87.5°F) by month’s end.

• October 31, sees French-Lebanese musician and composer Ibrahim Maalouf and the Trumpets of Michel-Ange, live at the Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation.

Sporting Events

• The NBA Abu Dhabi Games return to the Etihad Arena between the 4 and 6 October 2025 with the New York Knicks taking on the Philadelphia 76ers, as well as fan appreciation days and the NBA District set up at Manarat Al Saadiyat – see ticket options here.
• The 22 October sees the UAE Warriors Fighting Championship at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

Exhibitions

• The Teeb Al Hazm perfurme exhibition will take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 25 September until 5 October. To find out more, click here.
• Don’t forget to check out the current temporary exhibition at the Louvre – Mamluks: Legacy of an Empire, which will run until the 25th January 2026. Festivals and Outdoor Events

• The much-loved Al Dhafra Festival will likely return by month’s end (2025 dates yet to be announced) in the Al Gharbia region near Madinat Zayed. The festival celebrates Emirati heritage, including falconry displays, camel and Saluki racing, and even a camel beauty contest.
• The whole family can also enjoy watching an open-air movie together on Fridays and Saturdays at Umm Al Emarat Park – season start date for 2025 TBC. Take your picnic blanket, grab a spot by the big screen, and enjoy a family blockbuster as the sun sets!
• Running from the 23 to the 25 October at the Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation, the Schlingel Abu Dhabi Children and Youth Film Festival provides an opportunity for filmmakers to share their work with younger children.

Other Events in Abu Dhabi this October

• Perhaps something you do not anticipate from the UAE is the celebration of Oktoberfest in Abu Dhabi. An emulation of the traditional German beer festival, many hotels have their beer gardens set up with a variety of German food and continental beers on offer. The 2025 listing of events is still to come, but expect something to be on somewhere every weekend in October, with events moving outside by month’s end!

• Halloween is another celebration that does not exactly spring to mind when you think of the UAE, yet in recent years, it’s become a big and well-loved event. Many hotels offer Halloween-themed brunches, afternoon teas, and even murder mystery nights.
• Most larger residential developments host Halloween parties, and many malls have Halloween treasure hunts. Last year, the Galleria Mall went all-out with their ‘Monster Village’ and expected to return in a similar format – and look for WB World trick-or-treating events and lots of other spooky goings on!

Suggested Abu Dhabi Activities in October 2026

As the weather starts to cool, it’s time to take advantage of some of Abu Dhabi’s outdoor attractions. Some things you could try include:

• Take a kayak or eco-donut boat out onto the Eastern Mangroves to reconnect with nature
• Enjoy the spectacular Louvre, followed by afternoon tea at one of Saadiyat Island’s beautiful 5-star hotels.
• Take a tour of Qasr Al Hosn before taking a sunset cruise along the Corniche.
• Enjoy one of Abu Dhabi’s exclusive and luxurious beach clubs, or take in many of the free (or really cheap) public beaches.
• Stroll the Yas Bay Waterfront and enjoy some of the city’s best new restaurant openings and nightlife.
• Explore the new Saadiyat Cultural District, now spanning from the Louvre Abu Dhabi to the Natural History Museum, there’s literally days of entertainment within a few square kms on Saadiyat!

Day Trips from Abu Dhabi in October 2026

If you want to head away from the beaches and malls of Abu Dhabi, here are a few suggestions of other places that you can visit within the UAE:

• Visit Al Ain, the garden city of Abu Dhabi, which has lush green oases and archaeological wonders. Visit the camel market and drive to the summit of Jebel Hafeet for beautiful views and some cool fresh air.
• Leave the city behind and head to the Al Dhafra festival.
• Head to Dubai, visit Legoland or one of the other theme parks at Dubai Parks and Resorts, or be enchanted by Dubai’s Miracle Garden, reopening in October for its winter season.
• Get out into the desert on a desert safari and get to grips with the UAE’s cultural heartland.

• Head to Hudayriyat Island late in the day for a cool down at The Splash Pad Circuit X, or bigger kids may want to rent a board or scooter and enjoy the skating bowl
• Plan a day out at Yas Waterworld on Yas Island, followed by dinner at Sidekicks
• For any really hot days, check out the revamped children’s museum at the Louvre
