What Can I Find at Yas Waterworld?

Yas Waterworld spans 37 acres and features over 70 rides and attractions, divided into eight zones, as illustrated in the Yas Waterworld map below.

The Legend of the Lost Pearl and the Lost City

The waterpark’s theme is based on a story about a young girl called Dana who goes on the hunt for a mysterious giant pearl. The pearl had once sat at the heart of her village and was said to bring good fortune to the people.

One night, there was a great storm, and the pearl vanished. From that point, the fortunes of the town dwindled. Dana began a quest to set things right and bring prosperity to her people. Join Dana in her adventure as you travel through the park.

The Lost City is the name of the new park extension, which takes you on a journey through hidden treasures and secret passages.

Whether you’re a thrill seeker or want to splash around with your little one, here is what you can expect to find at Yas Waterworld in 2026 and beyond!

These are some of the bigger rides and attractions on offer at Yas Waterworld:

• Dawwama – Feel the rush on the world’s largest six-person tornado water coaster.

• Falcon’s Falaj – Follow the adventure on the world’s longest six-seater water coaster.
• Slithers Slide – Experience six twisty enclosed snake slides.
• Rush Rider – Take on endless waves at this surfing and bodyboarding experience.
• Hamlool’s Humps – Turn yourself upside down on this very high and fast set of slides!
• Jebel Drop – let yourself go on the region’s tallest speed slide.

Gentler Rides and Experiences at Yas Waterworld

• Amwaj – Grab a rubber ring and enjoy the region’s largest wave pool.
• Al Raha River – Relax on your inflatable as you float along 300m of lazy river with waterfalls, rain showers, and caves.
• Yadi Yas – Experience the rapids on a lazy river with more intense waves, as well as rain showers and water jets.
• Cinesplash – Enjoy a 5D cinema experience that tells the story of Dana and her quest for the lost pearl, complete with numerous surprises!
• Bandit Bomber – Glide over the waterpark and get a bird’s eye view on this family roller coaster.

Ride Height Restrictions at Yas Waterworld

Most of the ‘adult’ rides have height restrictions. These vary depending on the ride but are generally 1.1 or 1.2m.

Children over 1m are allowed to ride on the Bandit Bomber. The Wave Pool and Lazy River are open to everyone, regardless of age and height.

What is There for Young Children at Yas Waterworld?

The waterpark is split into zones with specific areas for babies, toddlers, and very young children. The baby zone at Yas Waterworld includes a shallow pool with a small slide, swings, and fountain spouts around the pool’s edge. There is also a smaller bubble pool for babies.

In the same area as the baby zone, but fenced off from it, is a larger pool with various gentle slides suitable for younger children. There are also fountains, bucket installations, and a kindergarten-friendly elevation opposite. This area is well-shaded, with large sails fixed above each of the pools.

In the next zone, there is a large elevation known as the Marah Fortress with multiple slides, rope bridges, and gigantic buckets suitable for children in the roughly 7-11-year-old age range. Adults are not permitted on the slides at the Marah Fortress, but can accompany smaller children onto the structure itself.

Is Yas Waterworld indoors?

No, unlike the other Yas Island theme parks, including SeaWorld, Ferrari World, and Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld is almost entirely an outdoor attraction. The only indoor attraction is Cinesplash.

Other Facilities at Yas Waterworld

Toilets, Showers, Changing Rooms, and Lockers

Toilets are available throughout the site, with the main showers and changing rooms located in the main building, also known as the ‘souk area’, at the site’s entrance. Within the changing rooms, there are lockers, and towels can be purchased or hired just outside. There are also prayer rooms available.

Outdoor showers and drying machines are also available throughout the park.

Food and Beverage Outlets

There are various food and beverage outlets throughout the site. Here is a breakdown of what you can expect to find at each:

• Dana’s Diner serves up everything from Burgers to Arabian Mixed Grills
• Chubby’s Kitchen offers a variety of Asian dishes as well as burgers, pizzas, and salads
• Skinny’s Frozen Treats, located by the baby pool, serves ice creams, lollies, and cold drinks
• Salma’s Snack Shack, located between the baby and toddler area and the Marah Fortress, serves freshly cut fruits, slushies, and smoothies.
• Galwat Nasser serves up Arabic coffee, camel-milk chocolate,s and dates.
• Dock Side Dining, in the new Bandits Village, enjoy Italian favourites like pizza and pasta
• Smaller shacks around the park also sell a variety of drinks and ice-creams.

Retail Outlets

• Sultan and Sons – A large shop in the main waterpark building which sells swimming costumes, water shoes, flip-flops, and goggles, as well as many other water park essentials. Swim nappies are also available to purchase here.
• Qaryat Al Jewana – A souk-like space in the Waterpark’s main entrance. Here you can buy a variety of waterpark memorabilia as well as pick up photos at the end of your trip.
• Tawasha Pearl Shop – Here, you can buy real oysters and customise your own pearl jewellery.

Cabanas and Poolside Seating

The park features ample seating, with sun loungers strategically positioned around the main pool areas. Private cabanas are also available for 4 or 6 guests, with prices starting from 399 AED.

You will need to get in early on the weekend, especially if you want to grab seats near the main attractions like the wave pool, but there are plenty of hidden little nooks around the park if you go explore beyond the main entrance.

Underwater VR Experiences

Have you ever fancied diving down to a lost city or travelling down a waterfall? There are a variety of underwater VR Experiences on offer at Yas Waterworld, with prices ranging from 75 AED for individuals to AED 225 for groups.

How Can I Get to Yas Waterworld?

There are free shuttle buses operating between the hotels on Yas Island and the theme parks. There are also free shuttle buses from downtown Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Can You Get Discounted Tickets to Yas Waterworld?

It’s hard these days to find anything like 2-4-1 passes for Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi or the Yas theme parks; however, here are a few places you could check:

• Yas Waterworld is included in the Go City Dubai Explorer Pass, which includes all the Yas Theme Parks; you can combine this with several Dubai and Abu Dhabi attractions and save.

If you live in Abu Dhabi, the Yas Theme Parks annual pass can represent excellent value for families. Look out for special offers that frequently come up over Ramadan and Eid.

What are the Yas Waterworld Opening Hours?

Opening hours are subject to change, but you can generally expect the park to be open daily from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM **

* Occasionally, Ladies Day events see the park closed to all males over the age of 8 on a Friday. Always check the official Yas Waterworld Website for up-to-date information before your trip.

** There’s also a large number of older rides currently undergoing maintenance since the opening of the new Lost City, so don’t presently expect all 70 attractions to be operating daily.

Is Yas Waterworld open all year?

Yas Waterworld often closes briefly in the winter for maintenance. The closure usually runs from the beginning of January until mid-February. It looks like they are now spreading maintenance out over the winter months without complete closures for the last two winters.

Opening hours are subject to change. During term time, the park is generally open from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Thursday, and from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

What are the Rules at Yas Waterworld?

Here are the rules that you should be aware of when visiting Yas Waterworld:

• All visitors must wear proper swimwear.
• Young children who are not fully toilet-trained must wear a swim nappy/diaper.
• No inflatables are allowed.
• Photography is not permitted during ladies’ days (phones are not allowed in the water park on these special days). The park employs photographers who can take photographs for you.
• You are not allowed to bring in food from outside – strictly enforced (exceptions only for baby food)
• All bags are checked at the entrance to the waterpark.
• Smoking is only permitted in certain areas at Yas Waterworld.

As is always the case in the UAE, you should behave respectfully and avoid swearing or any other offensive behaviour, as well as public displays of affection.

Is visiting Yas Waterworld safe?

A visit to any waterpark carries an element of risk, but at Yas Waterworld, great care is taken to mitigate this risk. Maintenance is taken seriously, and regular full maintenance checks are performed.

Lifeguards are stationed throughout the park to ensure there are no blind spots where an incident could go unnoticed. There is also CCTV throughout the park for this reason. In addition to lifeguards, a trained paramedic is on site.

The pools and all facilities are kept spotlessly clean. Young children are asked to leave the children’s area for 15 minutes twice a day to allow for water cleaning and recirculation.

Where to Find Saadiyat Cultural District

Saadiyat Cultural District is located on Saadiyat Island, just off the coast of the main Abu Dhabi island. The museums are all within easy walking distance of each other, set along a stunning waterfront known for its striking modern architecture.

Getting there:

• From Abu Dhabi city: Around 10–15 minutes by car or taxi from downtown/Corniche
• From Yas Island: About 15-10 minutes by car/taxi
• From Dubai: Roughly 1 hour 15 minutes via Sheikh Zayed Road (E11)

April is a transition month, weather-wise, for Abu Dhabi. Mild, pleasant days at the start of the month, usually coinciding with local and European school holidays, turning into hot days approaching summery highs by the end of the month.

There is usually a lot going on around town in April as many outdoor events such as markets, al fresco breakfasts, brunches, and bars squeeze out the last of outdoor weather before life moves indoors, usually around the start of May.

However, in 2026, things are bound to feel a lot different.

The important message to reiterate, whether you are local or stopping through this month, is that the city (and indeed the whole country) is still very much open for business., albeit events are still being postponed and cancelled.

Follow any safety alerts issued by the UAE authorities and be aware last minute cancellations may need to be made. Follow MOIUAE as a reliable government source of information.

Abu Dhabi Weather in April

Abu Dhabi’s average daytime maximum temperature in April is 31.4°C (88.5°F), with highs up to 43°C (109.4°F) and average overnight lows of 24.6°C (76.3°F). Rainy weather this year has led to much lower-than-usual temperatures in early April 2026.

In April, you should expect an average sea temperature of 25.2°C (77.4°F). The month starts with minimum sea temperatures of around 22.7°C (74.9°F), rising to a very pleasant 27.7°C (79.9°F) by the month’s end.

• The Abu Dhabi Youth Orchestra and Choir will be putting on their first jazz concert of the year Sunday, 29 April, at the Cultural Foundation

Most events involving large crowd gatherings have been cancelled due to the ongoing regional conflict. Please note the new dates for the following events:

• Middle East Film and Comic Con has moved to 11-13 September 2026 at ADNEC
• Abu Dhabi International Book Fair postponed to 13 -18 September 2026 ADNEC
• Christina Aguilera has had her concert at Etihad Arena postponed to 25 September 2026
• Off Limits Festival at Etihad Park has been postponed to 21 November 2026
• Tarkan Live at Etihad Arena has been postponed to 27 November 2026
• BRED Abu Dhabi Neoculture Festival on Yas Island postponed with new date TBC
• Hyperbound Kpop Fest on 18 April 2026 has been cancelled. Await news if there will be a reschedule.

Day Trips from Abu Dhabi in April 2026

• April is a great time to squeeze in a bit of camping before the outdoor season ends. If you don’t have access to your own tent, why not head to Sir Bani Yas Island to enjoy this stunning nature reserve (an overnight stay at one of the beachfront villas is highly recommended!) or try one of these purpose-built glamping sites in Abu Dhabi.

• Try the refreshing Al Ain Oasis on a day trip to the Garden City, Al Ain.

• It’s still pleasant enough in the evenings to enjoy a desert safari, admire the sparkling dunes at sunset, followed by a traditional Bedouin experience under the stars.

Although the United Arab Emirates is a Muslim country, make no mistake, just like Christmas, Easter is a big celebration that is observed by the local expat community.

Whether you are still a big believer in the Easter Bunny, want to attend a church service, or look at it as a fantastic family opportunity to gather with your loved ones, there’s always plenty going on around Abu Dhabi to help you celebrate Easter in the sunshine.

Easter Dates for 2026

For Catholics, Easter Sunday will be observed on 5 April 2026, whilst Orthodox Christians will observe the occasion on 12 April 2026.

Unlike the past few years, the Catholic Easter no longer coincides with the Holy Month of Ramadan.

While both religious events are based on lunar cycles, Ramadan advances by approximately 10 days each year, whereas Easter always falls on the first Sunday after the Spring Equinox. We are looking a couple of decades away before we need to worry about when Easter and Ramadan will coincide again!

Weather in Abu Dhabi at Easter

The weather around Easter is traditionally among the best of the year for visitors to Abu Dhabi, with exceptionally nice conditions for sun-seekers.

Abu Dhabi doesn’t have a spring per se, but March and April are as close as you’ll get when the daytime highs are hot, while early mornings and evenings are still pleasant to be outside.

With Easter falling in early April this year, you can expect warm weather in Abu Dhabi. Daytime highs can reach the low 40s °C, while overnight temperatures drop to an average of 24.6°C (76°F).

It is advisable to avoid the peak of the day outdoors in April in Abu Dhabi; if you are out and about, apply plenty of sunscreen and bring your hat and sunglasses.

Water temperatures in Abu Dhabi at Easter remain a little on the cool side, though those from cooler climates will likely find it delightful, with water temperatures around 25°C. (Most large resorts will have temperature-controlled pools if it’s still a little chilly for your liking at Easter time in Abu Dhabi.)

Easter also often coincides with international school breaks, further increasing the popularity of visiting at this time of year. Locally, the spring break will occur in March this year, but nonetheless, the pleasant weather of April brings big crowds (under usual circumstances; this won’t be the case in 2026).

Ramadan Nights at the Park

Ramadan at Umm Al Emarat Park will offer a serene setting for families, featuring Oud Music, tanoura shows, and storytelling sessions throughout the month.

Come to the park at sunset to see the traditional firing of the cannon, then enjoy the Ramadan Garden Iftar menu curated in collaboration with Emirati Chef Mariam Al Mansoori.

2026 Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Ramadan Tournament

This popular family event with millions in prize money up for grabs is back this Ramadan.

There’s a new location this year and a renaming, but the same concept in conjunction woith the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. Competition will take place at the Sheikh Zayed Festival grounds in Al Wathba and covering 15 sports.

Events in 2026 will take place from 23 February to 17 March 2026.

Are you planning a trip to the UAE in March 2026 and wondering whether the Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi will remain open during Ramadan this year? The answer is YES!

Ramadan 2026 is likely to commence on 17 February 2026 and run until 19 March 2026, subject to moon sighting.

Contrary to popular belief and what may have occurred in the past during Ramadan, the stunning Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi will remain open during the Holy Month of Ramadan in 2026 (1447).

The hours are slightly adjusted, and there is an evening closure over Iftar. During this time in the evening, the iftar cannon (Madfa al iftar) is fired, signalling the end of the day’s fasting and Maghrib prayers.

Grand Mosque Opening Hours over Ramadan 1447 (2026)

Timings for the Grand Mosque during Ramadan are usually split into the first 20 days and the last 10 days – please observe the exact timings based on moon sightings.

First 20 days of Ramadan 1447 (approx 18 Feb to 9 March)

• Saturday to Thursday: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM & 9:30 PM to 1:00 PM
• Fridays: 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM & 9:30 PM to 1:00 AM

Last 10 days of Ramadan 1447 (approx 10 March to 19 March)

We are awaiting confirmation if they are changing the hours for the last 10 days of Ramadan, as presently there is only one set of opening hours advertised for Ramadan 1447.

• Saturday to Thursday: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
• Fridays 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM

Guided cultural tours will continue throughout Ramadan. There is no need to book; details will be available when you arrive.

Entry to the Grand Mosque in 2026

Entry to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque remains free for tourists, and the cultural tours are free.

Pre-registration is required to enter the Grand Mosque; there are no longer any COVID restrictions or “Green Alhosn” needed.

For Muslims, please observe the following prayer timetable issued by szgmc.gov.ae.

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi over Eid

The mosque is open from Saturday to Thursday, 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM, during the first day of Eid Al-Fitr (the Feast of Breaking the Fast) and Eid Al-Adha (the Feast of Sacrifice).

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque operates with a strict dress code for visitors.

Since 2020, the ability to hire a free abaya or Kandura has been suspended for health and safety reasons. You will need to ensure you are appropriately dressed for the Grand Mosque before arriving or within the grounds of the Grand Mosque.

There is now a small souq (market) where inexpensive clothing can be bought—for example, a cheap abaya costs around AED 40 – 80 at Souq Al Jami.

Sure, iftar all over the world has its own charm, but nothing can beat Iftar in Abu Dhabi. The combination of Abu Dhabi’s grandiose and lavish iftar buffets is an experience to remember for a lifetime!

What is Iftar?

After fasting all day from sunrise till sunset, Muslims break their fast with dates and water, known as iftar. Having waited all day to eat, many people include other dishes in their iftar menu for a more fulfilling meal.

Things To Remember When Attending Iftar

• Even if the Iftar buffet opens a little before sunset, waiting to serve yourself until after sunset (often marked with a televised viewing of the cannon firing at the Grand Mosque) would be respectful.

• Do let Muslim guests who have been fasting serve themselves first.

• Do dress respectfully with your knees, shoulders and cleavage covered. Many places do have a dress code, so be sure to check in advance.

• Most hotels and high-end restaurants require booking at least 48 hours in advance.

6. Cyan Brasserie

Enjoy stunning views from Andaz’s beautiful Cyan Brasserie. Located on the 18th floor of the Capital Gate (Leaning Tower) building, the Franco-Arabic style brasserie offers an uninterrupted vista towards the city and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in the distance. This year the restaurant has been transformed into an colourful and aromatic spice-souk. Other Iftar Experiences in Abu Dhabi

Experiencing iftar in a fancy restaurant or tent is one thing, but there are other iftar experiences to savour. Many smaller restaurants on side streets and in malls offer iftar packages that are excellent value for money. They don’t generally need to be booked in advance but provide all the satisfaction your stomach needs at the end of a day’s fast.

Increasingly, more unique iftar experiences are becoming available in Abu Dhabi. These include the chance to take iftar in extra special locations. We’ve outlined a few of our favourites below.

A Desert Iftar Adventure – Al Mabeet Desert Camp

The Al Mabeet Desert Camp, located in the heart of the desert dunes, is the perfect place to experience a luxurious iftar. Located almost 40 minutes from Abu Dhabi, the authentic Arabian night feel is definitely worth the drive.

Prepare for a spectacular international buffet, featuring an array of local and international dishes including a range of mezze-style dishes, Moroccan tagines, and Bedouin zarb – lamb slow cooked underground for around 18 hours.

When it comes to desserts, once again, there’s an array of different sweet treats, including kunafa, umm ali, koulaj and ashta.

The desert setting, live qanun player and bonfire make this an unforgettable atmosphere. So, if you’re up for a beautiful Bedouin experience, Al Mabeet is the place to go!

A Luxury Desert Escape Steeped in Tradition – Qasr Al Sarab

If you’re happy to drive a little further from the city and have your sights set on a truly luxurious Iftar in a unique location, then the open air Iftar at the Al Falaj restaurant at Qasr Al Sarab is something you won’t want to miss. Set amongst rolling sand dunes, this Bedouin style retreat is the perfect place to break your fast and connect with tradition.

Ramadan Nights at Umm Al Emarat Park

For a family-friendly Ramadan experience head to Umm Al Emarat Park. Enjoy the spectacle of the firing of the cannon to mark the breaking of the fast, before enjoying a delicious iftar buffet in the children’s garden.

As well as the daily iftar offering, the park will also host a Ramadan Market from 8.00pm until 1.00am on Fridays and Saturdays. In addition to stalls selling a range of locally made products, foods and beverages, there will be live performances, story-tellling sessions and lantern-making workshops.

A full moon celebration is also planned for 8.00pm on March 4th which will include sound healing and yoga.

Cost: Various depending on the activities undertaken, entry to the park is 10 AED.

Ramadan Nights at the Zoo

Experience Iftar with the animals at Emirates Park Zoo this Ramadan. At just 195 AED per adult, you can enjoy a rich selection of traditional and international dishes in beautifully adorned tents with live entertainment, up close animal experiences, story telling and craft activities, this is an Iftar that’s sure to please the whole family!

Experience an underwater Iftar at The National Aquarium, Abu Dhabi

In previous years, The National Aquarium has hosted a special underwater Iftar in its magnificent underwater tunnel. No dates have been set for 2026, but stay tuned into their social media channels, just in case!

What about Suhoor?

Many Muslims like to break their fast with the traditional water and dates, before a small snack and take a larger meal later in the evening, or in the early hours of the morning, this is known as Suhoor in the UAE. Many hotels and restaurants offer Suhoor as well as Iftar, which is why many Iftar gatherings end at 8.30pm. This allows for tables to be cleared and food replenished before the Suhoor starts, which can be anything from 9.00pm onwards. More often than not, venues offer a more intimate setting for Suhoor with an a la carte menu or a small, carefully curated buffet.

When contacting venues to ask about Iftar, don’t forget to ask if they have a Suhoor offering, as this might be more to your liking if you haven’t been fasting during the day. To give you an idea of some of the Suhoor opportunities available in 2026, check out our Suhoor article here!

One Suhoor that we really must mention right here, however is Layali Ramadan, an exquisite, yet relaxed suhoor opportunity at the Saadiyat Nights venue on Saadiyat Island. Returning for its second year, Layali Ramadan will offer a refined evening of live music and carefully curated cuisine under the stars. The food, provided by the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental adds to the extraordinary magic that Layali Ramadan presents. Open nightly from from 9.00pm until 3.00am.
