Yas Waterworld spans 37 acres and features over 70 rides and attractions, divided into eight zones, as illustrated in the Yas Waterworld map below.

The Legend of the Lost Pearl and the Lost City

The waterpark’s theme is based on a story about a young girl called Dana who goes on the hunt for a mysterious giant pearl. The pearl had once sat at the heart of her village and was said to bring good fortune to the people.

One night, there was a great storm, and the pearl vanished. From that point, the fortunes of the town dwindled. Dana began a quest to set things right and bring prosperity to her people. Join Dana in her adventure as you travel through the park.

The Lost City is the name of the new park extension, which takes you on a journey through hidden treasures and secret passages.

New Rides in 2025 & 2026

If you’ve not been to Yas Waterworld for a few years, it’s time for a revisit! The extension brings many ‘junior’ versions of the park’s favorite rides, including:

• Al Mafras – desert water slides
• Dawwama Junior – tornado coaster ending in a mini tornado funnel
• Al Kanz Race – kids racing slides
• Seabag Junior – a smaller version of the mat racing slides
• Al Sahel Junior – the region’s first mini zero-gravity boomerang
• Red Dunes – Aqua tube for younger thrill-seekers
• Rimal Racer – High-speed racing slides for kids
• Al Falaj Race – dueling raft race to go head-to-head

• Bahamut Rage – log flume ride with a jaw-dropping 15-meter splash

Ride Height Restrictions at Yas Waterworld

Most of the ‘adult’ rides have height restrictions. These vary depending on the ride but are generally 1.1 or 1.2m.

Children over 1m are allowed to ride on the Bandit Bomber. The Wave Pool and Lazy River are open to everyone, regardless of age and height.

What is There for Young Children at Yas Waterworld?

The waterpark is split into zones with specific areas for babies, toddlers, and very young children. The baby zone at Yas Waterworld includes a shallow pool with a small slide, swings, and fountain spouts around the pool’s edge. There is also a smaller bubble pool for babies.

In the same area as the baby zone, but fenced off from it, is a larger pool with various gentle slides suitable for younger children. There are also fountains, bucket installations, and a kindergarten-friendly elevation opposite. This area is well-shaded, with large sails fixed above each of the pools.

In the next zone, there is a large elevation known as the Marah Fortress with multiple slides, rope bridges, and gigantic buckets suitable for children in the roughly 7-11-year-old age range. Adults are not permitted on the slides at the Marah Fortress, but can accompany smaller children onto the structure itself.

Is Yas Waterworld indoors?

No, unlike the other Yas Island theme parks, including SeaWorld, Ferrari World, and Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld is almost entirely an outdoor attraction. The only indoor attraction is Cinesplash.

Other Facilities at Yas Waterworld

Toilets, Showers, Changing Rooms, and Lockers

Toilets are available throughout the site, with the main showers and changing rooms located in the main building, also known as the ‘souk area’, at the site’s entrance. Within the changing rooms, there are lockers, and towels can be purchased or hired just outside. There are also prayer rooms available.

Outdoor showers and drying machines are also available throughout the park.

Food and Beverage Outlets

There are various food and beverage outlets throughout the site. Here is a breakdown of what you can expect to find at each:

• Dana’s Diner serves up everything from Burgers to Arabian Mixed Grills
• Chubby’s Kitchen offers a variety of Asian dishes as well as burgers, pizzas, and salads
• Skinny’s Frozen Treats, located by the baby pool, serves ice creams, lollies, and cold drinks
• Salma’s Snack Shack, located between the baby and toddler area and the Marah Fortress, serves freshly cut fruits, slushies, and smoothies.
• Galwat Nasser serves up Arabic coffee, camel-milk chocolate,s and dates.
• Dock Side Dining, in the new Bandits Village, enjoy Italian favourites like pizza and pasta
• Smaller shacks around the park also sell a variety of drinks and ice-creams.

Retail Outlets

• Sultan and Sons – A large shop in the main waterpark building which sells swimming costumes, water shoes, flip-flops, and goggles, as well as many other water park essentials. Swim nappies are also available to purchase here.
• Qaryat Al Jewana – A souk-like space in the Waterpark’s main entrance. Here you can buy a variety of waterpark memorabilia as well as pick up photos at the end of your trip.
• Tawasha Pearl Shop – Here, you can buy real oysters and customise your own pearl jewellery.

Cabanas and Poolside Seating

The park features ample seating, with sun loungers strategically positioned around the main pool areas. Private cabanas are also available for 4 or 6 guests, with prices starting from 399 AED.

You will need to get in early on the weekend, especially if you want to grab seats near the main attractions like the wave pool, but there are plenty of hidden little nooks around the park if you go explore beyond the main entrance.

Underwater VR Experiences

Have you ever fancied diving down to a lost city or travelling down a waterfall? There are a variety of underwater VR Experiences on offer at Yas Waterworld, with prices ranging from 75 AED for individuals to AED 225 for groups.

How Can I Get to Yas Waterworld?

There are free shuttle buses operating between the hotels on Yas Island and the theme parks. There are also free shuttle buses from downtown Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

It’s hard these days to find anything like 2-4-1 passes for Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi or the Yas theme parks; however, here are a few places you could check:

What are the Yas Waterworld Opening Hours?

Opening hours are subject to change, but you can generally expect the park to be open daily from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM **

* Occasionally, Ladies Day events see the park closed to all males over the age of 8 on a Friday. Always check the official Yas Waterworld Website for up-to-date information before your trip.

Is Yas Waterworld open all year?

Yas Waterworld often closes briefly in the winter for maintenance. The closure usually runs from the beginning of January until mid-February. It looks like they are now spreading maintenance out over the winter months without complete closures for the last two winters.

Opening hours are subject to change. During term time, the park is generally open from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Thursday, and from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

What are the Rules at Yas Waterworld?

Here are the rules that you should be aware of when visiting Yas Waterworld:

• All visitors must wear proper swimwear.
• Young children who are not fully toilet-trained must wear a swim nappy/diaper.
• No inflatables are allowed.
• Photography is not permitted during ladies’ days (phones are not allowed in the water park on these special days). The park employs photographers who can take photographs for you.
• You are not allowed to bring in food from outside – strictly enforced (exceptions only for baby food)
• All bags are checked at the entrance to the waterpark.
• Smoking is only permitted in certain areas at Yas Waterworld.

As is always the case in the UAE, you should behave respectfully and avoid swearing or any other offensive behaviour, as well as public displays of affection.

Is visiting Yas Waterworld safe?

A visit to any waterpark carries an element of risk, but at Yas Waterworld, great care is taken to mitigate this risk. Maintenance is taken seriously, and regular full maintenance checks are performed.

Lifeguards are stationed throughout the park to ensure there are no blind spots where an incident could go unnoticed. There is also CCTV throughout the park for this reason. In addition to lifeguards, a trained paramedic is on site.

The pools and all facilities are kept spotlessly clean. Young children are asked to leave the children’s area for 15 minutes twice a day to allow for water cleaning and recirculation.

Yas Waterworld

Voted as the Middle East’s leading water park for the past four years^(1), this Emirati-themed water park includes a sensational 40+ rides and attractions. We love that it caters to all age groups, from tots with covered play areas and slides to some serious adrenaline-pumping rides.

There are water park favourites to be found, from the wave pool to the lazy river with several slides and rides unique to Yas Waterworld. Thrill-seekers will love the Slithers Slides, the Sebag racing lanes, Jebel Drop, and a straight drop down in the Liwa Loop.

There are family and group rides, too, like the Falcons Falaj and Dawamma, the world’s largest tornado water coaster! Don’t miss the 5D Cinesplash show to top off your water-based experience – ideal whatever the season, even in the peak of Abu Dhabi summer, it’s bearable in the water!

Ferrari World

Home to some of the most thrilling rides in the world – including the World’s Fastest Roller Coaster, Formula Rossa and the highest rollercoaster loop on Flying Aces – this is where the adrenaline junkies are headed.

It’s a great place to enjoy endless hours of rollercoaster fun and simulator experiences, as well as live shows and plenty of themed dining options.

Since opening in 2010, the lineup has included additional adrenaline activities, including a rooftop walk and a zipline experience (additional costs apply).

The park was extended in 2020 to include a Family Zone, making Ferrari World accessible to a much wider age group. Several replica rides are made just for children under 1.2 metres tall, so they are no longer left out on thrills (but we’d still argue this park is better suited to your tweens/teens+).

Everything is, of course, Ferrari-themed in this entirely indoor action theme park, attached to the Yas Mall complex in the centre of the island.

Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi

Boasting 29 rides, attractions, and entertaining shows, this entirely indoor theme park is the largest in the Middle East region, but no longer the largest in the World! It is an absolute family crowd-pleaser.

You will find cartoon favourites from your childhood, from the Jetsons to the Flintstones and Scooby-Doo to DC comic book heroes wandering the streets of Metropolis and Gotham City.

Throughout the day, you can grab autographs and photo ops with your favourite characters, see live performances, and enjoy endless rides as the park remains largely crowd—and queue-free.

Warner Bros will best suit kids 4 years or older or over 1.1 metres tall, though there are a handful of attractions little ones can enjoy.

SeaWorld Yas Island

The region’s first marine life theme park (oddly not built next to the Gulf or any waterway surrounding the city) opened its doors to the public in Spring 2023.

Explore eight exciting realms from the Arctic to the tropics in this immersive theme park experience telling the story of “One Ocean” that connects us all. You’ll find over 100 animal experiences, presentations, up-close animal encounters, and expeditions.

The centrepiece is the world’s largest aquarium tank, which towers over five floors and holds an incredible 58 million litres of water.

SeaWorld Abu Dhabi is home to over 15 interactive experiences and rides, more than 20 live characters and performances, 17 dining options, 13 retail outlets, and roaming entertainment across all realms.

Open daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, this fabulous new theme park has something for all ages to enjoy, from the tiniest tots to thrill-seekers (though note that the emphasis is not on the rides). If you’re travelling to Abu Dhabi with toddlers, this should be your first choice.

Disney Abu Dhabi

Hot off the press is the news that Disney has partnered with local developer Miral to bring its seventh International Disney resort to Yas Island.

The when and what is still at the ‘imagineering’ stage, but you can expect it to be at least 2030 when doors open. Which themed lands and what the resort will look like is still a distant dream in 2025, but it is well worth getting on your UAE bucket list in the future!

Motor Sports on Yas Island

The first integral part of Yas Island that opened was the Yas Marina Circuit (YMC).

Abu Dhabi’s YMC has been hosting the season-closing Grand Prix since 2009. It’s always a spectacular event for the city with a huge party atmosphere; it’s the biggest annual event hosted on Yas Island and in the Abu Dhabi Emirate.

Attracting tens of thousands of international visitors each year in December, it’s truly an event no motorsports fan will want to miss.

Other Experiences at Yas Marina Circuit

Outside of Grand Prix season, plenty still takes place at the track year-round and ways you can get involved, even test your motoring skills. For just a taster, we suggest:

• Our favourite way to simply experience the Grand Prix track is to take part in TrainYas.  Entry to the track is free every Monday and Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. You can cycle, jog or walk, with some free bikes being provided, first-come-first-served. Bring your own or pay a little more for a better-quality hire bike.

• Test your own driving skills; you can do a lap of the track with Formula 3000 Driving Experiences (over 18s and need to be between 160cm and 188cm).

• If you’re after something for the slightly younger ones or not quite ready for the full track experience, try the Yas Marina KartZone at Yas Central? Not quite GP level but definitely enough to get your heart pumping.

• Even more sedate? Then try a behind-the-scenes tour of Yas Marina Circuit will certainly pique your interest if you’re travelling out of season.

What Other Attractions Are on Yas Island?

Now, let’s look beyond the race track and theme park to see why it’s worth staying on Yas Island for far more leisure and entertainment.

Yas Bay

The new kid on the block opened in December 2021 and has brought a whole new array of dining and nightlife options to Abu Dhabi. Yas Bay waterfront offers over a dozen dining venues, including Café Del Mar Beach Club and the state-of-the-art multi-purpose venue Etihad Arena – see the lineup of events here.

They’ve also begun construction on two new beachfront parks designed for families and adults. This will undoubtedly be a great addition to this top city attraction (this does mean at present there’s some fairly unsightly hoarding erected along the waterfront, significantly impacting the area’s aesthetic).

Yas Bay is still absolutely worth a stop on your itinerary, especially if your trip aligns with a show at the arena. Families should check out Central for some of the city’s best family dining, and plentiful other venues offering casual to fine dining. EL&N London is popular with the Instagram crowd, while Paradiso is known for its casual weekend brunches.

Yas Marina

Nestled amongst the race track, you will find the exclusive Yas Marina. Not only berths for luxury yachts, but plenty of dining and nightlife options can also be found here.

A popular launch spot for cruises and private charter yachts, it’s a real hub of activity on evenings and weekends with al fresco dining options as far into the summer as they can manage!

The main event of the winter is, of course, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which will take place from 4-7 December this winter.

Yas Links

This 18-hole links golf course can be found between the hotel plaza and the theme parks. With a spectacular waterfront setting, Yas Links is the new home to the European Tour HSBC Golf Championships, which are now held in November.

Villa Sélène restaurant (replacing Hickory’s) brings a touch of the Mediterranean to Abu Dhabi, and with access to the rolling lawn area, it makes for a great family day out. This is accompanied by the relatively new Crafty Fox Tapas & Sports Bar (adults only), and a 9-hole par three-course if you’re short on time.

Yas Acres Golf & Country Club

The latest entertainment addition to Yas Island, the Yas Acres Golf and Country Club offers visitors sporting opportunities and fabulous new leisure facilities, including padel courts and a lap pool, alongside several new restaurants joining the Abu Dhabi dining scene.

Yas Beach

Often rated as one of the best beaches in Abu Dhabi for its extensive facilities, the inland beachfront provides the perfect spot to relax in the sun.

Free to guests staying at any Yas hotel, it can easily be accessed by shuttle bus from key locations around the island. Day guests can also pay for using the facilities of Yas Beach, or even book private cabanas.

CLYMB Abu Dhabi

Proudly holding the title of the largest indoor sky diving chamber in the world and home to the world’s tallest indoor climbing wall, SUMMYT, CYLMB Abu Dhabi is a real treat for adrenaline junkies and visitors who like to stay active even over the summer months.

Parks and Recreation on Yas Island

In addition to the open night at the track, several spots around the park have been designed for recreation.

• Yas Gateway Parks (North & South) are set aside for Grand Prix parking just once a year. For the remaining 51 weeks, they’re open park venues with play park facilities, BBQs and sports tracks.

• You’ll find The Waves and The Sands recreation areas close to Yas Bay, including a skatepark, sports courts, grassed areas and a waterfront promenade.

• West Yas Community Park is another beautiful community playground, including a skate park.

Shopping, Dining & Entertainment at Yas Mall

Last but not least, Yas Mall is located at the very centre of the island. Abu Dhabi and the UAE certainly know how to do shopping malls and indoor entertainment, and Yas Mall is no exception.

With 370 stores, from hypermarkets to high-end luxury boutiques, shopping abounds. There’s also plenty of indoor entertainment here, particularly for families, with a vast VOX cinema, Fun Works, Kidzania Abu Dhabi, AirManiax, and a Pop in & Play LEGO centre.

Some newer attractions for your older kids include Man City Challenge and NIGMA Galaxy for your e-gamers in the freshly opened Sporting Boulevard. As we mentioned earlier, Ferrari World and CLYMB Abu Dhabi are also attached to this end of the mall, making it a brilliant indoor venue in Abu Dhabi.

Dining is a big deal here, too; it is home to Black Tap, Cheesecake Factory, Rainforest Cafe, Al Fanar, and P.F. Chang’s, to name but a few. In addition to your traditional fast food court, the Yas Food Hall is packed with international cuisines and unique dining concepts, a must for foodies seeking something new.

How to Get to Yas Island and the Yas Theme Parks

There are a few ways to get to Yas Island, depending on where you’re setting out from:

Dubai to Yas Island

Yas Island is around a 50 to 90-minute journey from Dubai, depending on your starting point.

Free Yas Express shuttle

If you hold theme park tickets to any Yas theme parks, you can take your place on board a free daily shuttle service from Dubai.

The two daily services depart at 11:00 AM from

• Y6 Route Deira City Centre (entrance beside Aloft Hotel) – Journey time approximately 2 hours
• Y7 Route Ibn Battuta Mall (entrance beside Aloft Hotel) – Journey time approximately 1 hour, 20 minutes

The return buses leave from Ferrari World, then make a pick-up at WB World/Yas Waterworld 10 minutes later:

• Y6 Route back to Deira City Centre 8:00 PM
• Y7 Route back to Ibn Battuta Mall 7:30 PM

Public Bus from Dubai to Yas Island

If you are solely dependent on public transport, you can take a combination of Metro and buses from Dubai to Yas Island. 

• First, get yourself to Ibn Battuta on the red line metro.
• The intercity bus Route 101 from Ibn Battuta Bus Station to Abu Dhabi Central Bus Station (Al Wadha) leaves every 30 minutes and takes around 1 hour and 40 minutes. This costs 25 AED per person, payable on Nol.
• From Al Wadha, take the Abu Dhabi Bus Route 190 to Yas Island, which departs hourly. This costs 6 AED per person; you will need a local Abu Dhabi transport card, Hafilat, not Nol.

Taxies and Transfer Services to Yas Island

If Dubai’s public and shared transport options don’t work with your schedule, consider taking a taxi or hiring a driving service—some can even include your theme park tickets!

• Depending on where you set out from, a metered taxi from Dubai to Yas Island can cost around AED 250.
• This private driver option from Dubai includes your entry tickets to your choice of theme park
• This transfer service includes a full-day tour of Abu Dhabi before visiting Ferrari World

Self Drive & Park on Yas Island

Do you have your own wheels, or are you happy to hire a car? Driving is the easiest way to get to Yas Island. Free parking is available at all the theme parks and venues we’ve listed here.

• WB World has a multi-deck car park, but it’s a bit of a hike to the entrance. If you are also visiting Yas Waterworld, we suggest following the parking signs for Yas Waterworld, and you can easily zip between the two theme parks on foot.

• For Ferrari World and CLYMB, you can park in any of the Yas Mall car parks, like for signs to the dedicated Ferrari World parking for the closest spots.

• If you visit other parts of Yas Island, you will have no problems self-parking at Yas Bay. There are plenty of free public parking spots available at The Waterfront, undercover car parks 1 and 2, and the new multi-deck Yas Bay P2 Parking. (Do be mindful if there are any large events at Etihad Arena; they may put you in overflow parking much further away to ease traffic congestion. Undercover parking will be restricted to VIP ticket holders only.)

• Likewise, for the Grand Prix, you can only self-park near the venue if you have arranged parking with your Grand Prix tickets. Most patrons park in Yas Gateway parks North and South and then take a shuttle into the venue.

Getting Around Yas Island

Getting around Yas Island is easy for guests without their own vehicles with complimentary shuttle services. Five Abu Dhabi routes run between key locations, including the hotels, Yas Bay, Yas Marina, Yas Mall, and the theme parks.

How to get to Yas Island by bus from Abu Dhabi

Just as above, from Abu Dhabi Central Bus Station, you can catch the 190, which will loop around Saadiyat Island and drop you to the front of Ferrari World.

If you are coming from the Airport, local bus service A19 leaves once an hour and stops at Ferrari World/Yas Mall and Yas Waterworld.

Alternatively, a taxi is an easy way to get a group there. You are looking at AED 45 coming straight from the AUH airport (as there is an AED 25 airport taxi flag fall) or approximately AED 60-80 coming from the Corniche. We recommend you book your AD taxi using the Yango App.

Al Raha Beach to Yas Island – Yas Bay Water Taxi

A water taxi service has been launched for visitors to Yas Island from the nearby Al Raha Beach neighbourhoods.

In the spring of 2022, Yellow Boats ran the initial pilot stage, which was later replaced in late 2022 by a water taxi operated by Abu Dhabi Maritime.

This new water taxi service now has stops at Al Bandar, Al Muneera, and Al Zeina (every hour), with a separate service connecting Yas Marina and Waters Edge (every 2 hours). Services run from 4:00 PM on weekdays and 3:30 PM on weekends.

You can now check timetables and advance book online, or use the AMDT Al Nalia App (AED 10 for a one-way trip, Kids AED 5, or AED 20 for a return trip.

Where to Stay on Yas Island

Yas Island offers visitors a great range of hotels to suit budgets across several key locations. These are all connected by the Yas Express shuttle bus service, free to guests on the island.

There is a main hotel plaza within walking distance of the Grand Prix track, then three standalone hotels at key locations; these are:

• The WB Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton – this hotel is ideal for theme park fans visiting Yas Island. It is situated immediately between Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi and Yas Waterworld. Offering a pool and themed Sidekicks restaurant as well as suite rooms for larger families, you’re in for a real treat. • Hilton Abu Dhabi, Yas Island – with a commanding view over Yas Bay, this 5-star offering will put you right in the centre of the action for Yas with a great pool and plenty of dining and entertainment options right on your doorstep.

• W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island – (previously known as the Yas Viceroy and then Yas Hotel) is a unique hotel for the city, sitting straddled over the Grand Prix track. It offers sensational race track and marina views with a swanky rooftop pool, one of the city’s coolest hotel offerings.

Yas Plaza Hotels

The original Yas Plaza hotels were built alongside the Yas Marina Circuit construction, so they’re a little older than the shiny new offerings. Nonetheless, they offer excellent accommodation with several budget choices that allow access to the other hotels’ great facilities.

When considering where to stay in Abu Dhabi, keep in mind that frequent theme park deals are often available with your hotel booking. The WB Hotel automatically includes your theme park tickets; at other Yas hotels, it would be an optional extra to consider, giving you reduced-priced tickets.

Touring Abu Dhabi Beyond Yas Island

Abu Dhabi is a very spread-out city over a series of islands. You’ll find Zayed International Airport on the “mainland”, and then bridges seamlessly connect the main Abu Dhabi Island and outlying islands.

Yas Island may not be considered “central”, but it is still a great place to base yourself for exploring more of Abu Dhabi. You can use the Visit Abu Dhabi shuttle bus from Yas to explore further attractions around the city, such as:

• The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
• Louvre Abu Dhabi
• Qasr al Watan

When Does The Yas Bay Water Taxi (Green Line) Operate?

Operating 7 days a week, the ‘Green Line’ has a separate timetable for weekdays and weekends (this has changed on multiple occasions since the new service launched, so apologies if the below is not 100% accurate; last check and updated for spring 2026):

• Monday to Friday – Starting from 3:00 PM at Yas Bay, then every hour, the last service leaves at 10:00 PM
• Saturday & Sunday – Starting 3:30 PM at Yas Bay, then every 30 minutes until the last service at 10:30 PM (NB since March 2026, this looks to have dropped back to hourly)

The water taxi then leaves Al Zeina at 15 minutes past the hour, Al Muneera at 25 minutes past, and Al Bandar at 40 minutes past on weekdays.

On weekends, when there’s a 30-minute service, stops will also be made at Al Zeina, 45 minutes past the hour; Al Muneera, 55 minutes past the hour; and Al Bandar, 10 minutes past the hour.

Yas Bay Waterfront (Purple Line)

This new service connects the Yas Water’s Edge Community to Yas Bay, via Yas Marina.

• Every 1.5 hours from 4:15 PM to 8:15 PM Monday to Thursday
• Every 15/30 minutes from 4:15 PM to 10:00 PM Friday to Sunday

Yas Bay – Al Qana (Red Line)

Connecting two popular tourist destinations in the capital, this is a twice-daily service in both directions and takes 35 minutes:

• Al Qana departures are at 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM daily
• Yas Bay departures are at 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM daily

What Does the Yas Water Taxi Cost?

The pricing has increased since the Yas water taxi service was first introduced. You should now expect to pay:

• Adult one way – AED 10
• Children under 12 – AED 5
• Under 2 or over 60 – Free
• For a round trip, AED 20 per adult, kids AED 5

You must pre-book the Yas Water Taxi and present your QR code upon boarding. It appears they no longer accept cash or card payments on board. (Note that a service charge of 1 AED and a transaction fee per ticket is also added).

• Get the Al Nalia App on App Store
• Book through the AD Maritime Website

This can be done while you’re queuing for the boat, but we recommend booking several hours/days in advance to secure your spot, especially before or after major events at Yas Bay. There is no obvious signage at the docks to indicate that this is required while you’re waiting!

What Happened to Yellow Boats, Yas Bay?

Yellow Boats still operate tourist boat tours from Yas Marina. However, the trial water shuttle service that operated in the Spring of 2022 has not returned. The smaller Yas Bay Water Taxi appears to be the permanent replacement service.

We’d still recommend tourists check out Yellow Boats for longer scenic tours around the mangroves.

What Are Other Transport Options For Yas Bay?

• Yas Bay is connected with the other major attractions on Yas Island by the free Yas Express shuttle service. You can learn more about the other Yas Island attractions and shuttles over here.

• There is a public bus service to Yas Island from the Airport (Route A19) and Al Wadha Central Bus Station (Route 190). Note these drop you on the main road, and you’ll still have a 5-10 minute walk to Etihad Arena and Yas Bay.

• A taxi rank operates from Yas Bay, with plentiful metered taxis to take you wherever you’re headed next. A journey back to the Raha Beach communities will cost under AED 15 (minimum fare), while the return trip to town will cost approximately AED 60-80.

• You can self-drive to Yas Bay; note that on Etihad Arena event days, underground parking is reserved for VIP ticket holders only. There is plentiful parking most days in the Waterfront car park – follow signage past the Hilton hotel. A new multi-story car park is also available; U-turn at the traffic light, and it’s on your immediate right, don’t turn into Yas Bay. One of the newest additions to Abu Dhabi’s nightlife scene is the Trilogy by Buddha Bar at Yas Bay. The three-venue concept includes the Arabian-inspired Bushra restaurant, Zeera, which serves contemporary Indian cuisine, and the swanky rooftop Siddharta Lounge.

A delicious tapas-style menu, sophisticated signature cocktails and views across the water make Siddharta Lounge a popular spot to chill out. As the sun sets, the atmosphere intensifies with a live DJ, dancers, and acrobats on weekends and on ladies’ nights (Thursdays), making an evening at Siddharta Lounge one of a kind.

Note that a strict dress code applies, strictly no flip flops or any clothing considered beachwear.

Hidden Bar

Hidden, as its name suggests, inside the Rosewood Hotel is the oh-so-chic Hidden Bar. Specializing in gin, the lounge bar regularly runs a ‘Gin O’clock’ promotion, which includes 2 hours of unlimited G&Ts, house grapes and hops and an antipasti board for AED 188.

There’s a cosy outdoor terrace offering magnificent views over the water towards downtown Abu Dhabi as well as live piano music. The chilled-out vibe is perfect after you’ve spent the day at work or the beach.

The Warehouse Wine & Tapas Bar

The Warehouse is one of the best bars in Abu Dhabi for a sophisticated yet unpretentious night out. The decor complements the bar’s focus on tapas and fine wines from around the world, with grape barrels and leather sofas giving the bar a winery vibe.

Hidden within this unassuming corner of town, there’s a lively atmosphere, good music, and loads of wine-paired deals throughout the week. An amazing promo available every day of the week is the persuasively named ‘Cheese and Wine not?’, which serves up two hours of limitless grapes, cheese, and cold cuts for 160 AED per head.

Cooper’s

Pubs in Abu Dhabi, like Cooper’s, make for a more casual night if you’re looking for great beer and conversation away from the dress codes and flashing lights. The informal venue has dark furniture, patterned carpets and barrel tables to give it that British pub vibe and decent prices on nicely chilled beer.

Match days bring in sizeable crowds to watch the action on big screens in their sports bar and get the atmosphere pumping. No pub would be complete without some good old comfort food from the bar menu to be enjoyed alongside a few pints – besides, chicken wings and curly fries are never a bad idea.

Ray’s Bar

An oldie but a goldie on the Abu Dhabi lounge scene, Ray’s Bar is every bit as glamorous as you expect the city of Abu Dhabi to be as the sun comes down.

Situated on the 62nd floor of the glorious Etihad Towers, this cocktail lounge is the perfect spot to have sundowners and enjoy the wonderful ambience of the city from above at Abu Dhabi’s highest bar.

Deserving of the hype it receives, it’s the place we always take our visitors to town that never fails to impress with the floor-to-ceiling glass windows offering panoramic city views. Weekends often feature live bands and regular DJ entertainment to take you well into the evening in Abu Dhabi’s hottest address.

Smart casual is required to enter, and there is strictly no sportswear.

(PSST if you weren’t keen on Afternoon Tea at somewhere like Observation 300, then this is a great alternative to take in the spectacular views from Etihad Towers just a few floors lower).

Drinking in Abu Dhabi – The Rules

Whilst the legal drinking age in Abu Dhabi is actually 18, licensed venues are only allowed to sell alcohol to people over the age of 21.

The UAE maintains strict rules regarding public decorum and decency. Whilst alcohol is increasingly available and is often at the heart of nightlife in Abu Dhabi, it is still illegal to be ’drunk’ in public, and public displays of affection continue to be frowned upon.

You may see some people flaunting these rules, but we encourage you to exercise caution when under the influence of alcohol in Abu Dhabi and the UAE.

Fitness & Sports After Dark in Abu Dhabi

If you’re not into the bar scene and would rather use the peaceful, cooler hours of the day to enjoy the outdoors, there are several options after dark:

• The Corniche is always a favorite after dark. Whether you run, hire a bicycle or scooter, or simply take a leisurely stroll, the 8-kilometer-long stretch of coast is the city’s most popular spot at night.
• New in summer 2025, you can now enjoy swimming at night, from the floodlit beach at Marsana East, Hudayriyat Island. Note, there is an entry charge now to enter the beach.
• Summer also brings the return of Abu Dhabi Summer of Sports. Held in air-conditioned comfort at ADNEC, the facilities here are vast. Covering sports from football to padel, action cricket or badminton, you can get your exercise fix until 1:00 AM nightly, until 21 August 2025.
• Night golf can also be enjoyed under floodlights at Abu Dhabi City Golf Club, with tee-off times up to 9:30 pm (9 holes, 18 holes must tee off by 7:30 pm).

Yas Waterworld Expansion Plans

Owners Miral announced on November 15, 2023, that Yas Waterworld would be expanding by 16,900 sqm, adding a further 3.3 kilometres of slides and numerous new attractions to the existing lineup on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

The existing immersive experience, “The Legend of the Lost Pearl,” which reflects the UAE’s pearl diving history, will be joined by the new adventure, “The Lost City”. Guests will embark on an exciting journey to discover hidden treasures and secret passages.

The expansion will blend seamlessly with the park’s existing architectural styles, rockwork features, and characters.

Update Following Fire at Yas Waterworld Expansion

A large fire tragically struck part of the park expansion in late March 2025.

We do not have official word from Miral on the cause of the fire, but it appears to have impacted only six of the proposed new attractions. The phase 1 attractions were unimpacted by the blaze and will open on schedule this summer, 2025.

Given the apparent damage to the nearly complete slides in the final section that can be seen roadside, we can only assume that the remaining sections of the expansion will not open until at least early 2026.

NEW OPENING DATE CONFIRMED! The remaining section of the Lost City will open on 4 April, 2026.

Will Yas Waterworld Become the Largest Water Park in the Middle East?

Even after the expansion, that title will still belong to Aquaventure in Dubai. However, once completed, the additions will bring the total number of rides and experiences at Yas Waterworld to over 60, still by far the most extensive water park experience in Abu Dhabi!

The spectacular Yas Bay Waterfront Nights returns for its fourth edition in Ramadan 1447.

This is a brilliant way to experience the joy of the occasion of Ramadan in Abu Dhabi, whether you are a Muslim participating in daytime fasting or simply want to embrace the culture and spirit of the occasion.

Yas Bay Waterfront is Abu Dhabi’s vibrant nightlife destination on Yas Island. In celebration of Ramadan, guests are invited to this free-to-enter event, which includes live entertainment and an outdoor market (tbc for 2026).

What to Expect at Yas Bay Waterfront Nights

• Yas Bay Waterfront will be kitted out in Ramadan-inspired décor, serving magical vibes in the plaza in front of Etihad Arena from 8:00 PM until 2:00 AM daily!
• An outdoor market showcasing homegrown businesses is usually present, with fashion items, perfumery, and home decor (TBC for 2026).
• Local musicians and instrumentalists will share themed melodies on the pier every weekend adding to the gentle and reflective ambience (Friday to Sunday 8.00pm -11.00pm).
• Children are well-catered for by Mish Mish the Bear and friends at the Peaksy Play Zone in the Etihad Arena Plaza. Here you’ll find a range of games and interactive challenges to keep the kids busy! Open daily 8.00pm -10.00 pm
• Complimentary wellness sessions, hosted by Warehouse Gym will also be provided daily between 4.30 and 5.30pm. Focusing on Strength & Conditioning and Flexibility & Mobility, the classes are led by trusted fitness professionals and aim to build positive habits throughout Ramadan and beyond. Participants are encouraged to bring their own towels and yoga mats.
• There will be complimentary Ramadan beverages available from stations along the promenade.

Dining at Yas Bay Waterfront Nights

Those looking to enjoy iftar or suhoor won’t be left disappointed. There are a range of iftar and suhoor options on offer to suit every budget. We’ve highlighted some of the best below:

• Bushra by Buddha Bar – Iftar buffet served from 6.00PM AED 240 per adult
• The Lighthouse – 1 starter, main and dessert, with complimentary dates, soup and qahwa. Served from 6.00pm AED 155 per adult. Note that 10% of profits from this iftar will be donated to a local charity.
• Bua Thai – Four course sharing set menu for two priced at AED 299.
• For something a little different, why not try the Abu Dhabi Pearl Experience Cruise, which includes a 90 minute boat ride, dates, arabic food, juices, karak, qahwa and more! For four people to enjoy this experience it will cost 1000 AED. Each additional person pas 150 AED.

When is Yas Bay Waterfront Nights on?

The 2026 installment of Yas Bay Waterfront Nights will run nightly from Thursday 19th February until the end of Eid, from 8:00 pm to 2:00 am.

Stay tuned for additional Eid celebrations in Abu Dhabi, culminating in a spectacular nightly fireworks display in Yas Bay.

Yas Bay Abu Dhabi – How to get there

• There is plenty of free parking at Yas Bay for those who want to drive, including a new structured parking lot opposite Etihad Arena and Pier Parking.

• Coming by public transport, you’ll want Route 190 from Al Wadha Station, stopping on Yas Island.

• Residents of Al Raha Beach can take the Yas Water Taxi, which operates from Al Zeina, Al Muneera, and Al Bandar to Yas Bay.

• There’s also an Abu Dhabi taxi rank available at Yas Bay Pier Parking, or you can use ride-sharing services such as Careem/Uber.
