Remote Airport Check In For Zayed International Airport Now Open at Yas Mall

by Abu Dhabi Travel Planner Team

Want to enjoy a day out in Abu Dhabi before your flight from AUH? It’s now possible to use a remote check-in service to have your checked luggage taken care of before you fly, giving you time to explore one of the city’s most popular locations for tourists, Yas Island.

A new remote check-in service for Zayed International Airport opened in February 2024 at The Fountains at Yas Mall (this is the end of the Mall where you’ll find fun family attractions such as Ferrari World and CLYMB).

Open daily between 10:00 am and 10:00 pm, the check-in counters will be available to those passengers flying with national carrier Etihad Airways and Air Arabia.

With most flights out of Abu Dhabi taking off at the early hours of the morning, this is a brilliant way to use your time after hotel check (for hotels in Abu Dhabi this is about 11:00 am) but before you fly.

What does the remote check-in service for AUH cost?

There is a fee for using this remote service as follows:

  • AED 35 per adult (All passengers above 12 years )
  • AED 25 per child (Children aged 12 years and below) and
  • AED 15 per infant (Infants aged 2 years and below).

There is no requirement to pre-book this service; you can simply arrive and pay at the check-in counter.

For customer inquiries, contact the 24-hour Toll-Free line at +971 800 667 2347.

How do you get from Yas Mall to AUH Airport?

After you finish exploring Yas Island for the day, you will need to make your way back to the new Abu Dhabi Airport Terminal A at Zayed International Airport. There is no direct public transport link; however, these services are available on Yas Island:

  • Use a taxi from the taxi rank at Yas Mall or any of the island’s key attractions, such as the theme parks, Yas Bay, or Yas Marina. This should cost you no more than around AED 12-15
  • Use the free Yas Shuttle Bus services (Route Y9, though note it doesn’t have a Yas Mall stop; you can get picked up from any of the Yas Island hotels, the WB Hotel adjacent to Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi being the closest point to the Mall.
  • Careem or Uber rideshare services could also be used, but these invariably cost a bit more than using a standard silver Trans AD taxi

What if I am flying with A Different Airline

If you are not flying with Etihad or AirArabia, this remote check-in service is presently unavailable to you. You’ll need to use the regular check-in counters at Zayed International Airport and allow yourself 3 hours before your flight to take care of check-in procedures.

If your bags are pre-checked, you could realistically allow yourself just 2 hours before your flight to arrive at AUH, but don’t cut it too fine, especially if you still need to clear US Immigration!
