Abu Dhabi experiences a hot and humid tail end to summer throughout September – cooler winter weather really doesn’t kick in until late October. Crowds are low, and outside time is still limited, but the return of many expatriates and an influx of new joiners at this time of year still means there are plenty of special offers to enjoy around town.

Abu Dhabi Weather in September

Abu Dhabi’s average daytime maximum temperature in September is 37.4ยฐC (99.3ยฐF), with highs as much as 45ยฐC (113ยฐF) and average lows overnight down to 31ยฐC (87.8ยฐF). The “feels like” temperature, which takes into account humidity, can often be as high in September as it is in August.

In September, you should expect sea temperatures of 33.5ยฐC (92.3ยฐF) on average. Maximum sea temperatures are expected at 34.6ยฐC (93.4ยฐF) through to a minimum of 32.5ยฐC (91.3ยฐF) by the end of the month.

  • The Prophet Mohammed’s birthday will fall on the 12th day of Rabi Al-Awwal, with a public and sector holiday scheduled for 5 September 2025.
  • ADIHEX – The Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition will take place from 30 August to 7 September 2025ADNEC
  • Harry Potter Film Concert Series with live orchestra will take place on 6 & 7 September 2025Etihad Arena
  • The Laughter Factory tour of the UAE will be in town on 14 September 2025The Club
  • Harry Potter: The Exhibition continues through the month until 21 September 2025Manarat al Saadiyat
  • Saudi National Day, celebrated on September 23, is widely observed in the UAE community, often marked by fireworks at prominent locations.
  • The Hot Wheels Monster Trucks are back, this time it’s a Glow Party!! Experience epic stunts with a fiery twist on 27 & 28 September 2025Etihad Arena
  • Candlelight: Tribute to Adele performed by pianist Aldo Dotto will take place on 27 September 2025New York University Abu Dhabi

Schools traditionally return in September, so it is a quieter time of year at resorts and attractions than August – though you can expect the waterside on weekends to remain busy while families and locals try to beat the heat.

While the weather remains extremely hot outside, you will want to limit your outdoor activities to early mornings and evenings, but also be mindful of the humidity.

In September, you will still want to seek out indoor activities and water parks to keep cool. We recommend you try:

On Yas Island

Elsewhere in the city

  • Galleria Mall, Al Maryah Island, has the most comprehensive range of indoor activities from bowling and trampolines at Extreme zone, to escape rooms, VR experiences, LEGO Pop in and Play center, and little kids will love Caboodle.
  • Harry Potter, The Exhibition will be on at Manarat al Saadiyat until 21 September 2025. You could pair this with an evening visit to Marsana Saadiyat Island with plenty of dining options.
  • After dark, you can explore the beautiful parks and playgrounds at Umm Al Emarat, or visit several spots dotted along the Corniche for evening relief for little ones.
  • Younger children will like an evening stroll and play at the Circuit X Splash Park at Marsana, Al Hudayriyat Island – see the night beach deal above too to make a complete evening of it
