Abu Dhabi experiences extremely hot and often humid weather throughout August. It can be unbearable for many, but it is also low season, so you can bag yourself a bargain on accommodation and soak up the rays in relative peace if you don’t mind the heat.

Abu Dhabi Weather in August

Abu Dhabi’s average daytime maximum temperature in August is 40.2ยฐC (140.4ยฐF), with highs as much as a sweltering 48ยฐC (118.4ยฐF) and average lows overnight down to 32.8ยฐC (91ยฐF).

By mid-August, you really start to feel the humidity too, which sticks around until October. The “feels like” temperature, which includes the wind chill factor, can be significantly higher in August. It is not advisable to be out in direct sunlight during the peak of the day.

Although most days bring clear blue skies, sandstorms and a dusty haze are common in Abu Dhabi in August.

In August, you should expect sea temperatures on average of 33.8ยฐC (92.8ยฐF). Maximum sea temperatures are expected at 35ยฐC (94ยฐF) through to a minimum of 32.6ยฐc (91.6ยฐF).

It feels like dipping into a spa in August; many prefer a hotel with a nice chilled pool at this time of year to negate the steamy ocean temperatures – not to mention how hot the sand gets! August is not a highly recommended beach month!

Abu Dhabi Special Events in August 2026

During August, there are relatively few major events but plenty of enticing hospitality specials to encourage you to get out and about.

Many local expatriate workers disappear to their home countries during the hottest months, so you can grab great local hotel deals with no crowds.

Most schools locally return on 25 August 2025; this means the end of many special summer programs such as AD Summer of Sports, but also means many attractions are at their quietest for the year if you like to visit things crowd-free.

  • ADNEC Abu Dhabi Summer Sportsโ€”From 5 June to 21 August, 27,000 sqm of the ADNEC Exhibition Centre has been transformed into a sports space and running track, offering plenty of ways to stay active indoors.
  • This year Space42 Arena in Raha Beach will also be hosting AD Summer Sports events, with fun new Neon Nights from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm daily, 5 August to 31 August 2025 (ladies only Thursdays)
  • Limp Bizkit bring their live show to Etihad Arena on 12 August 2025
  • Paw Patrol Live – The Great Pirate Adventure will take place live on stage from 29 to 31 August 2025
  • Catch Faraj Suleiman Live in Concert at the Arts Centre NYU Abu Dhabi on 29 August 2025

Suggested Abu Dhabi Activities in August 2026

Given the intense heat of August beyond a resort pool, you are best sticking to indoor activities in August or enjoying the coolest weather of the day, early morning, and evening.

Finding a chilled pool is your best bet for August in Abu Dhabi – Nation Riviera Beach Club

If you’re keen to soak up some rays, we recommend choosing a beach club that also offers the relief of a chilled swimming pool and a nearby bar. Some favourites include:

  • See the Museum of the Future (entry to the first 2 floors is free if you missed out on booking tickets!)
  • There are plenty of entirely indoor attractions around Dubai Mall and Downtown Dubai, including a trip to Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Aquarium, and Dubai Opera, or try Sky Views Observatory and Sky Walk for a glass-bottomed city slide!

Abu Dhabi With Kids in August 2026

Keeping the kids entertained in the heat can be tough. Why not try one of the indoor theme parks on Yas Island?

We recommend that tweens and thrill-seekers try CLYMB Abu Dhabi, an indoor rock climbing centre and indoor skydiving experience attached to Yas Mall.

Although Yas Waterworld is outdoors, you’ll still find it slightly refreshing with chilled water in August. Ferrari World, SeaWorld, and WB World are all indoor theme parks with only a couple of rides that protrude outside.

For convenience, we recommend staying at one of nearby the Yas Hotels, where you’ll also get access to Yas Beach. Newcomer Hilton Abu Dhabi on Yas Island is proving very popular, with theme park stay and play packages available.

Closer to town, you can check out the new National Aquarium in Al Qana – this area is also home to Adrenark Adventure and Pixoul Gaming, both popular choices with tweens/teens.

Keeping it indoors, Galleria on Al Maryah Island is another top choice for a hot day. You can look for the small but hands-on and entertaining National Geographic Ultimate Explorer in Galleria Mall. They have also recently opened a huge entertainment hub with Game Over Escape rooms, Zero Latency virtual reality, Xtreme Zone indoor entertainment including bowling, Mission Play by Mattel, and a Sparkys indoor entertainment venue.

You could opt to cool down at the new Snow Abu Dhabi, Reem Mall where the temperature is always a chilly 2ยฐ C.
