Iftar – the meal taken to break the fast after sunset during the Holy Month of Ramadan takes place after Maghrib prayers. In March 2026, in the UAE, this is between about 6:20 pm and 6:29 pm – gradually getting later over the course of the month as the day lengthens.
You can use this handy calculator to determine when Maghrib will commence today in Abu Dhabi.
NB, we have set this calculator for Abu Dhabi timing. If you are in Dubai, you must subtract 4 minutes as it is further east.
Iftar time in Abu Dhabi is officially marked by the firing of the cannon – Madfa al iftar – at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, followed by a shared meal.
There are also cannons fired at Umm Al Emarat Park, Mother of the Nation Park (Sheikha Fatima Park, near the Corniche), and Qasr Al Hosn.
Ramadan in 2026 will occur from approximately 17 February until 19 March – subject to moon sightings.
