Aussie Gastro Pub Charm Without the Cliché – Inside The Keg Room, Abu Dhabi

Looking for a laid-back spot that blends great food, cold drinks, and a come-as-you-are atmosphere? Tucked away in the quiet Al Zeina community at Al Raha Beach, The Keg Room is a hidden gem of a bar and restaurant that’s earned a loyal local following—and for good reason.

While it’s Australian in spirit, this isn’t your stereotypical Aussie Outback-themed pub. Instead, The Keg Room offers subtle nods to its roots, from international beers (including Aussie favourites on rotation) to just the right amount of sports memorabilia and contempary Aboriginal Art by local artist Keehan Lange-McGuire. The result is a space that feels familiar, comfortable, and effortlessly cool.

Great Pub Food, Aussie Style

The menu leans into Australian pub classics, but don’t expect greasy plates and basic bites. Instead, The Keg Room delivers gastro-pub quality dishes—generous portions, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. Whether you’re after a parmi, the perfect steak, fish and chips done right, or a fresh salad with a twist, there’s something to please every palate.

The variety is impressive, making it a solid choice whether you’re grabbing a casual meal or sitting down for a family dinner. They even cater well to groups, with kid-friendly options that still hit the mark on quality, particularly their popular Sunday Roast.

(True blue parmi lovers should note its turkey bacon, no seperate pork license here!)

Come for the Food, Stay for the Vibe

Part of what makes The Keg Room so well-loved is its welcoming, unpretentious atmosphere. From sports fans catching the latest game to young families enjoying dinner with babies in tow, the crowd is as diverse as the menu.

The attentive staff strike the right balance—always nearby, but never intrusive—making service another big plus.

Live music is always a huge bonus with Rusty Marshall bringing acoustic favourites on a Thursday night, while you can catch bingo on Tuesday nights and a lively quiz night on Wednesdays.

The expansive beer garden adds plenty of space to unwind, especially in the cooler months, and it’s an ideal spot to relax with friends over a few drinks.

Drinks Selection & Happy Hour Deals

Prices are reasonable by Abu Dhabi standards, especially given the generous portions and quality. And if you’re after even better value, daily happy hour from 12pm to 7pm makes it easy to drop in for an affordable drink or two without feeling rushed (30% off a selection of beer wine and spirits).

Draft beers are in the range AED 39 to 49, and Australian house wines AED 35 per glass. Cocktails range from AED 55 to 65 (or watch for their Tuesday night buy-one-get-one free offer!). We would have loved to of seen more Aussie wines on the menu, but the extensive cocktail choices more than made up for this.

Every night of the week brings a rotation of themes with the current offering including Curry Mondays, Burger Tuesdays, Schnitzel & Parmi night Wednesdays and Surf & Turf Thurdays, amongst many weekly offerings. It’s best to follow along with The Keg Room on Instagram for latest specials as they’re regularly updated.

Booking in advance is highly recommended for quiz nights and other feature events – bookings are taken online here or email tkr.reservations@gmail.com.

Final Verdict

Whether you’re a local in Al Raha Beach or exploring a new corner of Abu Dhabi, The Keg Room is a casual, reliable spot that delivers on all fronts: quality food, relaxed vibe, great service, and fair prices. It’s the kind of place you’ll visit once and quickly add to your regular rotation.
