As many residents return from summer travels and contend with the heat of August in Abu Dhabi, the city is unveiling a refreshing new way to enjoy the outdoors. Following the recent launch of a night beach at Marsana on Hudayriyat Island, Abu Dhabi City Municipality has now announced the opening of a new Night Beach on the Corniche.
Designed to encourage an active lifestyle while accommodating the city’s extreme summer temperatures, the night beach offers floodlit access to a 1,000m2 stretch of shoreline between Gates 4 and 6 along the iconic 7-kilometer Corniche.
Operating hours for the Corniche Night Beach are:
- Monday to Thursday: 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
- Friday to Sunday: 6:00 PM – Midnight
The initiative forms part of Abu Dhabi’s broader efforts to enhance public amenities and create inclusive spaces where the community can gather, stay active, and make the most of the capital’s waterfront—even on the warmest nights of the year.
In addition to swimming, visitors can enjoy basketball, volleyball, and football facilities, creating a lively atmosphere for families and groups of friends to gather by the water. Entry is understood to be free of charge (though this was not specified in the municipality’s announcement, we shall confirm!).
It has also not yet been confirmed how long the Corniche Night Beach will remain open for the season. By the winter months, when Abu Dhabi’s waters become noticeably cooler, night swimming is expected to pause until the return of warmer weather.
