Negative Coronavirus test required for Abu Dhabi entry

After a month-long period of lockdown since early June, Abu Dhabi authorities have announced that certain residents may re-enter the Emirate from neighbouring Dubai, with conditions.

Those looking to cross the border from Dubai into Abu Dhabi must provide evidence of having a negative coronavirus test within 48 hours.

Updated guidance from the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Commitee as follows:

There are police checkpoints at all Dubai to Abu Dhabi border crossings.

It is possible to cross from Abu Dhabi in to Dubai without a Coronavirus test result or permit. Remember a face mask must be worn even in your own private vehicle.

What’s open in Abu Dhabi Post-Covid?

Children under 18 are once again allowed in malls and restaurants in Abu Dhabi. Restrictions still apply to social distancing and table limits of four people are in place at restaurants and bars.

Some public beaches and parks have reopened in Abu Dhabi, subject to 40% capacity and strict safety measures including the use of masks (the need for a negative Covid test has been removed). These include:

  • Al Bateen Beach
  • Umm al Emarat Park
  • Khalifa Park
  • Delma Park
  • Sharea Park
  • Kathem Park
  • Wathba Park
  • Rabdan Park
  • Shahama Park 1
  • Green Mubazzarah – Al Ain
  • Al Mirha Park – Al Dharfrah
  • Zayed Al Khiar Park – Al Dhafrah

Resort pools have permission to re-open subject to from 16 July, these re-opening will be gradual.
